64.2, Putting on the brakes for how long?

Is this putting on the brakes and waiting until the red light turns green? Or is this putting on the brakes, pulling the hand brake, turning off the ignition and getting out of the car at the end of one's journey?

Your thoughts will be greatly appreciated.

How can it be at the end of one's journey if the Hexagram is "Not Yet Across"?
It's more like testing the brakes before driving across a small stream, getting some security that way, but not picking up any of the necessary momentum to carry you across. Ultimately this ford wants a little more boldness and commitment.

I?m with Brad on this one. It?s the line of organisation, discipline (hex. 7 has Yang line on position 2...), so discipline yuourself in testing and have patience... Line 2 changing makes 64 change into 5... so wait! Don?t jump or break yet... just test...

Thank you Brad. I had to ask because most interpretations I've read say putting on the brakes is a good thing, and I would love to believe that and therefore confirm my assertion to the Yi. But, as you said, the first line of this hexagram, line 0, is about having not yet crossed, so it makes perfect sense that line 2 says to me that in spite of the fact I've sabotaged my progress in crossing by putting on the brakes, good fortune will result by going forward again.

Your interpretation rings true, and I feel exposed for the fraud that I am. I was asserting that I don't want to go to the next step in my relationship (35) because I enjoy my aloneness and I like not having anyone underfoot. Rather than confirm my assertion, the Yi was telling me that's not entirely true and that I'm dragging my feet because of my fear of commitment.

Hi Furry-
At least it's always good to know that you have working brakes. And, if you're going to stop before you really get started, it's maybe best to do it closer to the near shore than halfway across the stream, when one is in over one's head.
