64-41 Why are they in my life?

Hi, I'm new here, and new to i ching
I just did a reading about a relationship, asking why the person I'm involved with is in my life (ie what do we have to teach each other). I received hexagram 64 changing to 41 in answer to this question.

Any help with interpreting this reading would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Maybe you asked the question because things are not very smooth with your partner and you wanted to know if your relationship you are in its worth fighting for?

Well, anyway, I have a possible interpretation, this is my take:

1.- You are impatient (64.1) trying to make thinks work better, smoother, but this will take some time and effort (64.4), you have to disminish yourself a little (41), you have to make a sacrifice (41) while the problems are sorted out (64.4)

Maybe there are other possible interpretations, but you should give a little bit more of information...

In a nutshell , I think the sacrifice in 41 is telling you not to end your relationship, but fight for it (64.4) although is a big pain for you (41)

Btw, 41 can also represent the background of your question, showing your idea of disminishing this relationship (41).. but remember what 64.4 has to say.

Decrease (H41) means understanding that you must give up some things to get other things (Balkin). Your work in the relationship is not complete (H64) and you can not do it quickly (Line 1). Line 4 indicates that you have the possibility of succeeding with this person in a large way, but you must be prepared to conquer the demons. As we don't get to change other people, this means that we must find our own inner demons and subdue them to make the relationship succeed.

Although it is very hard work, it is a line with great promise.

Line 64.1 is first of all warning you not to rush into this relationship, restrain your enthusiasm otherwise you will get hurt, so take it slowly and carefully.

Line 64.4 this suggests that you are going to have problems in this relationship, if you really want it then you are going to have to fight for it as you seem to have a partner who is very stubborn and therefore difficult to deal with at times.

So personal sacrifices will need to be made if you want to win the battle of wills, your choice.
