i have an opportunity to submit my photographic work to Magnum but i am worried the standard of my work is not high enough at present and i would not want to burn my bridges as i had contact with them 10 yrs ago and they said come back after you gain more experience. if i apply this time and get rejected again i don’t think i’ll have another chance.
So i poses the question: should i submit my work to Magnum and i received 8.3,6 to 53

i see this as a negative reading.

8- i am seeking union with them
8.3 - they will not appreciate my submission. They are not like minded people/organisation
8.6 - i am punching way above my weight and my work is not at the appropriate level
53- if i follow this advice i’ll be acting in the correct way

Does anyway have any alternative interpretations that could help me with this major decision.

many thanks in advance

Change patterns are 52/58 which looks like sharing. You came to the question with the tension between staying within yourself (52) and sharing (58)

My immediate impression is this answer is less to do with sending it or not than advice about how you organise the stuff that you send and how you pick the right place to send it.

8.3 can be very literal, you are trying to bond or make connection with that which is not human. At times this can be things like sending emails to robots, trying to talk to large systems where there isn't a human involved. So you are trying to join/align/connect (8). Do do your research about the correct address to forward to. Do try to get human contact about this where you can. I have no idea about how this is done but for example with this line I wouldn't be happy just to ping it off electronically, check there's someone actually there.

8.6 fails through lack of cohesion, through failing to make organised plans. Now this could also refer to how and to who you send it. There's Covid, people working at home, not all mail boxes might be attended to. But also how organised is your actual file of work ? I wonder if you need to view your work as an outsider receiving it. Is it in a format that is cohesive ? I have no idea what this means with pictures but you know do you need to label folders and files and really pay attention to how organised your work is ? In written work for example you don't stand a chance if you present a total mess. You could write the best essay ever but if it's not put together in a cohesive way the marker or the reader will not bother with it.

53 of course suggests checking out the correct procedure for presenting work. I have no idea what Magnum is (it's an ice cream here) but have you checked the format in which they accept work.

This makes me think of sending off stories for example to magazines. You always find there's a protocol, a list of requirements such as 'must not exceed 3000 words' etc 'must be presented on A4 paper with font size 12'. It's dull but it's essential to follow these rules because if you don't you look sloppy like you don't care.

Sloppiness is a problem with 8.6. In 8.6 people don't bother to coordinate, to make a plan, to be clear.

I'd say don't present your work until you are sure you have attended to all the requirements which will probably be in small print somewhere. There's nothing to lose in presenting it is there ? But you need to go over your work I'd think before sending it in. Maybe ask someone else to look it over first ? 53 can be very particular about protocol and so this whole reading seems to be a warning to you just to recap on your work and the format it's in. Maybe even the electronic format needs attention - you can see I actually know nothing about your line of work I'm just trying to give the idea.

All this may not apply but perhaps you can adapt the principles of what I've said to your situation ?

Trojina, as always an incredibly helpful reading! i did laugh out loud when i read your understanding of Magnum was ice- cream 😂. but of course, silly of me to presume anyone would know. it’s a photojournalist agency.

You have helped immeasurably. this is incredibly invaluable advice and makes total sense!! i better get prepping! xxxxx
