If there has been a break up I'm guessing the core issue was you want him to demonstrate his commitment more openly. Introduce you to his friends as his girlfriend perhaps.

This hexagram suggests to me the I Ching is telling you he already is demonstrating his "true feelings." What you see is what you get. If he's treating you as "just" a friend then that really is what you are.

The "second chance" would come if you can accept the above "61.Inner Truth" and still want to "35.Progress" with the friendship with that understanding.

... maybe it was only a flash in the pan for him,
he was introducing me to all of his friends, but maybe his wish for love was faster and stronger than his real feelings.
he did a sudden break up.
