Three years ago I asked the I Ching about some internal bleeding I had been experiencing: 9.2.6 -> 63 (https://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/friends/showthread.php?22885-Medical-concern-9-2-6-gt-63&highlight=)

One person commented that: "Line 6 for me is usually auspicious, i would agree with you that yes there is success in what you have done thus far however i would continue and follow things through. Dont rest on your laurels basically, but from line 6 you are taking the right steps."

He was right: the next morning I ended up getting rushed into hospital by ambulance to deal with the bleed, and for the past 3 years the doctors have been trying to determine where the bleeding is coming from. I've followed line 6's advice and not rested on my laurels, especially at times when doctors have been unsure what to do next. Recent test results have narrowed it down to the small bowel, which apparently is one of the most difficult organs to investigate given its shape. A recent capsule endoscopy has shown that mine is in an alarming state, so now I'm waiting for an enteroscopy appointment to determine whether any malignancy is growing there. Because of the bureaucracy of the NHS, this whole process has taken a while and nerve-wrackingly continues to do so. :brickwall:

Today I asked the I Ching about getting the bleeding and small bowel taken care of (finally?) and got 64.3.5 -> 44. I take this to mean to commit to getting it done, but don't try to make it work in a specific way. Just have the confidence to see it through. Would that be about right?

Thanks for any insight you can give. :bows:

Sorry you're going through this. But I'm not sure what the question is really. What would it mean to "try to make it work in a specific way"? Isn't it in the hands of medical personnel? Can you clarify?

Sorry for the confusion and lack of clarity--I should have explained more. I asked for the I Ching's take on getting the bleeding resolved and finding out what's going on in my small bowel, even with all the delays. Because the UK's NHS is bureaucratically slow, I had spent the morning trying to find out why an appointment hasn't been booked for me yet, even though I had met with the consultant 3 weeks ago. One of the issues is that the procedure has to be done in a different hospital in another city. However, this other hospital has not received my medical records despite their requests for the first hospital to send them. The first hospital has been trying to determine what is the best video format in which to send my test results and has requested outside help. Also my original consultant has now gone on compassionate leave, so sending the records may have to wait till she returns in 10 days. So all of a bit of a palaver, and I'm trying not to get too worked up about what could potentially be going on in my gut.

Sorry you're going through all this.

64 suggests a state of transition; 44 suggests a big, uncontrollable mess. 64.3 says: don't make any big, sudden moves or try to be bold and decisive in any way. Just hang tight. 64.5 says if you are sincere and steady, what you need to do will become clear.

I think you and they misinterpret line 6, we are talking of 9.6 from the other thread. it is the very opposite of 'do not rest on your laurels' it basically says that enough has been done for now and stop trying to get more certainty. I will quote the actual line from wiki. Hilary's translation - this is what Yi says

'Already rained, already come to rest.
Honour the de contained.
Constancy of the wife, danger.
The moon almost full.
Noble one sets out to bring order: misfortune.'

That does not say 'keep on and on and on' !

He was right: the next morning I ended up getting rushed into hospital by ambulance to deal with the bleed, and for the past 3 years the doctors have been trying to determine where the bleeding is coming from. I've followed line 6's advice and not rested on my laurels,

...oh dear dear dear wherever did you get this strange idea about line 6 from ? it doesn't say that at all.

 you have read the actual line not just someone's completely wrong assessment of the line ?

especially at times when doctors have been unsure what to do next. :brickwall:

..if you are still going by line 6 for goodness sake just stop and rest and stop pressing for more certainty when there isn't any to be had yet. If it's any consolation Ihave had this line for similar issues and it was basically telling me to just stop pressing for certainty, it's okay enough has been done.

The longer they take the less likely it is there is anything sinister going on, not always of course but well I am just posting because you so totally misunderstood 9.6.

Why not read the actual line and what that says instead of what other people say.

Actually as I have written in wiki I got 9.4.6 about some bleeding - hmm line 4 was literal, and line 6 said it was time to rest from trying to get more certainty. Anyway it was all a lot less worrying than your situation but nonetheless this line was never ever saying 'do not rest on your laurels' it was telling you to stop pressing on and on for more certainty and just relax a bit knowing you have done all you can for the time being.

To be fair

One person commented that: "Line 6 for me is usually auspicious, i would agree with you that yes there is success in what you have done thus far however i would continue and follow things through. Dont rest on your laurels basically, but from line 6 you are taking the right steps."

This person isn't even saying that is what Yi said, he's giving his own thoughts, agreeing with you 'I would continue and follow things through...' but you have understood it as what Yi said it seems.

I mean clearly regardless of any reading investigations have to be carried out, that's what he is saying but line 6 isn't saying that it's saying as loudly and clearly as possible 'you have gone far enough with this for now - stop'.

What about getting the situation taken care of finally?
64.3.5 - 44

64.Before Completion it's necessary to 44. Look around.

The image of 44 describes someone looking all around without getting pulled down or stuck - like the wind blowing all about the sky. so this may be telling you that things are still at the looking around exploring stage (or maybe it refers to your records continuing to float about, ugh), but 64.3.5 suggests this is a good thing.

About the lines...
64.3 could be referring to how this has been a long drawn out drama but it does say things end well.
64.5 maybe this line means actually fixing the situation won’t require a big major procedure.
