A Hexagram 58 situation

Dear All,

Been a while :) and I am back with some questions about the situation with a guy. This is a person I bump into from time to time, and based on our somewhat awkward interaction, I do not know how to interpret our connection.
I asked the Iching to give me an overall perspective of the situation with this person: 58 unchanging.

I am about to cast for the second time to how to interact with him:
Hexagram 11.2.4 -> 55.

Please accept my not interpreting it first as me being quite blank with my own readings. I would love to hear about the opinions of those friends which are willing to help with their take on this.

Thank you,

58 unchanging:
You are in the friend zone.

Both lines of the second reading indicate something:
'alliances are impermanent'
'not much enrichment from this neighbor.'
55 says not to be sad about it.

So, if you are having heart shaped feelings for this guy, you may want to transform them into friend-shaped-feelings.

Thank you Moss Elk!
Friends zone is an optimistic view for our encounters, he is a fun guy, somehow though he always manages to humiliate me, and of course I try to ignore him :D
Is there any other explanation from the text?

Hi Pyramid,

how to interact with him 11.2.4 > 55
11.2 shows mourning for a lost someone, but still marching on into the unknown.
11.4 shows (among other things) a flirty woman.
55 - show no sadness, give him a lot of chances.
I do wonder about the difference between the two lines.
It might mean cold/hot treatment, but I'm not sure exactly what it's saying.
Either cold/hot treatment, or one of you is grieving (also supported by 55 where we try to not feel sad).

As about 58 uc, the situation between you is still under negotiation.

Humiliate you..!? Well well, I'm hoping you're managing to throw his silliness back at him :)

Hey diamanda,
Nice to have you here :)

Who knows, a good looking guy is waiting for all the girls heads turning back at him. Now imagine that one head does not :deadhorse:

I am hosting an informal social event soon and he has acknowledged that he is in.
Somehow lately we bump into each other in the most unexpected places and events.
I want to be friendly but not at any expense.
That is why I asked these in the first place.

58 is about 'something for something'. If you like him, you'll need to give something back.
As in, you'll need to compromise somewhere, at some (smaller or larger) point.

IMO do turn your head a bit towards him, flirt with him (11:4).

Good-looking guys are the plague

By the way, I always have this question: What does hexagram 11 (unchanging) bring for relationship endeavours?

I looked up in many different places, my take is, on a day on which I have my rosy glasses on, this could mean a perfect coupling from heaven. Two people being in the same flow (emotional? spiritual?). All in accord.
On the other hand, and being less optimistic, it gives me the 'no harm done' chill as for in a bygone encounter.

11 unchanging is one of the oddest. In yes/no questions, for me it always comes up as a 'no', without fail. In other, more open-ended questions, it usually comes up as something bad, or something getting worse, or something just about salveagable, but not guaranteed. The only explanation I ever found about this perplexing issue was from Dan Stackhouse's old website:

T'ai symbolizes the power of rising above adversity.
Hands (human labor)
Rescuing people from flowing waters.
What Yu the Great did.
In T'ai , two hands are rescuing a person or people from water . The figure implies vast, widespread flooding, a problem that has always plagued the Chinese people. Perhaps it also refers to the efforts of Yu the Great, the legendary founder of the Shia dynasty who labored 18 years to tame the Yellow river and its tributaries, and to drain its vast flood plain.

If you have a look at the Exploring Divination thread Your Experiences with Unchanging Castings - Hexagram 11, you'll see that quite a lot of people had negative experiences with this. As many wrote over at that thread, the title 'Peace' is just really inaccurate. So bizarre.

Thank you diamanda,

Mhmm, I do not recall any experience of mine, so at least I can say there were never shocking outcomes after this casting.
Are there any other ideas?

:)

Oh just had this revelation!!!!!

So maybe it really means: nothing disharmonious to the current flow!

No grieving from my side lately ;) so might refer to the other person/process.
