Hello every one,
I asked a very simple down to earth question and got a quite complex answer which is confusing to me. I asked the Yi what it thought about the idea of me going to someone for a relooking (meaning these places you can go to for getting advices on the best way to get your hair cut, the colours that suits you best, how to dress to bring out your qualities, best make up for you etc.) And the answer was 10 with moving lines 1, 2 and 5 becoming 8.
From some interpretations the answer looks like a yes, it's a good idea and in some other interpretations it's more looking like a no, there are dangers everywhere! The question is quite superficial and while I am person who have spent my life looking inwards I was thinking that for once I will look outside! Do I risk stepping on the Tigers tail if I stick my head outside? Shall I only work on the inside? Myself I feel it's a good idea to go for a relook because when things refuse to change on the outside despite my hard work on my inside I could as well try to change the outside by some outside action. What do you think?
Thank you very much.

Well if you take it that your question has been answered precisely on the level that you asked it could simply be a caution to go careful about who and what you choose to make changes to your look. Hex 8 generally asks you to look at what you feel you belong with. What is 'you' and what isn't 'you' and most people have a sense of that in how they dress etc

So I might see your answer as advice for you to consider very carefully how much you want to take on board someone elses ideas about how you look. You know i feel the answer is possibly urging to stick to your individual tastes. In 10.1 and 2 the person is very much doing their own thing without interference and line 5 shows taking a somewhat unorthodox route (how that apples to your appearance i don't know ? Green hair ? )

Maybe the way forward is to make changes in your appearance under your own steam rather than submitting to someone elses ideas.

Interesting to see what others think anyway :)

Interesting answer, trojan, thank you very much!
Well, I have had green hair in the past  but today with age I have a kind of more "normal" style :) However, it is correct and it sounds more like me the "doing their own thing without interference". I have always been seen as different so I guess I should stick to that as it is how I am and developing my individual taste. The 8 is very interesting because this is exactly what I am pondering about right now: who and what do I belong with? I don't know that yet, I only know that much of what I thought I belonged to in the past has proofed to be what I am not belonging to. The more I discover myself the more I let go of friends and people I knew in the past. This makes me a quite lonely person in a way but better to be alone than in the wrong company and I do hope I will find people I can connect to eventually. I have also realised that it is crystal clear for me now that most of the people I've been together with in the past have drained me of my energy and I don't want that anymore so for the moment, the only being that is not draining me of energy but is giving me as much (if not more) than I am giving him is my horse (and in a way also my cat). However, I don't want to cut myself off from human beings, on the very contrary, but it's vital that the connection is based on a mutual healthy ground and that I am not feeling drained after having spent time with a person. Your answer gave me a lot. Thank you very much:bows:.

Line 10.1 says not to go to a makeover shop, don't depend upon those people to be able to help you out and also don't be in a rush to change your looks because of the circumstances that you find yourself in. It advises you to do the best you can with what you have already got.

Line 10.2 says again not to go to a makeover place, don't get carried away by your enthusiasm to change your outward appearance, it suggests that you keep a low profile, don't get caught up with the demands of life and don't worry about how others see you physically.

Line 10.5 says that after reading the advise of lines 10.1 and 10.2 you are still determined to make changes outwardly, then talk to others who have had a makeover, study all there is to know about it, etc, and beaware of the dangers involved, like if you get it wrong for instance, so it will be a matter of all or nothing in the end.

thanks willofox.
I think I will not do this reelooking thing.
I think it's important that I develop my own taste.
And I know my looks are fine but I wanted to make som outside changes in my life.
Thanks for your feedback.

I have a slight twist to add to willowfox's interpretation. I think line 1 means, be content and happy with yourself as you already are. If you have inner peace and you also want to change you appearance, that is OK. But don't expect a new look to give you a new heart.

Line 2 means to not get caught up in exciting situations. I totally agree with willowfox on this one. Thoreau wrote, "I say, beware of all enterprises that require new clothes, and not rather a new wearer of clothes." This is the time to heed that advice.

I agree with wf that line 5 says, the situation is dangerous, do not go forward unless you have a rock solid foundation for your perseverance. In other words, this process of being given a new look might not be as quick and easy as you imagine.

However if you are totally comfortable inside your own skin, and you are naturally drawn to your own choice of new clothes, that would be fine.

Thanks a lot ben for these wise words. I will not do this relook thing but will follow this very wise advice you posted: "I say, beware of all enterprises that require new clothes, and not rather a new wearer of clothes."
Looks like I have more inner work to do...

I'm getting quite a different feel from these hexagrams ...

First, consider that hex 10 follows hex 9 whose advice is, "The superior man refines the outward aspect of his nature." This reads to me that when one has got their Look together they can then proceed with confidence to approach The Tiger in hex.10 or any other situation they might have felt a bit intimidating.

So here we have Plupp saying, "I'm considering putting my current Look to the test. I'm considering consulting a professional and getting some feedback. Will they give me good advice, confuse me or waste my time?"

10.
IMAGE
The superior man discriminates between high and low and thereby fortifies the thinking of the people.

You are looking to have a consultation with someone who is adept in recognizing what is good about your look and what is not. Their job is to FORTIFY YOUR THINKING, not to impose some outlandish idea of their own.

10.1
Simple conduct. Progress without blame.

Check it out. No harm in asking.

10.2
Treading a smooth level course.
The perseverance of a dark man
Brings good fortune.

You don't have to take their advice.

10.5
Resolute conduct.
Perseverance with awareness of danger.

Is this saying you can be easily talked out of making this appointment?
If you are going to go, it's going to take real determination?

Or perhaps it means that you must be determined to do more than just get a one day make over. You'll have to be willing to keep it up.

8. Holding Together.
The kings of antiquity
Bestowed the different states as fiefs
And cultivated friendly relations
With the feudal lords.

We all have been given different talents. By cultivating our own areas of expertise - fiefs - we have something to exchange with others for their talents, and thus we create friendly relations. If you exchange your talent (money) with the consultant's talent for doing make overs, it will prove to be a fair and friendly exchange.

Go for it!:D

Go for it!:D[/QUOTE]

Oh la la! I am definitely put up to test here!
What do I feel is the right thing to do? I think I must seriously ask myself that question…
If I now say that I want to go for this relook thing you will think I am like a leaf in the wind, just going where the wind is recently blowing without any focus and it's probably part of the truth…
However, when reading Rosadas answer I felt inside joy and inspiration so that's maybe something to listen to and go for it? Well I have to ponder a bit and see what to do…
Thanks a lot Rosada for coming up with something completely different. I am also glad to see that the Yi is not black or white and that in the end much of what we take out from it is coming through our own coloured glasses. In the end and as always, the best thing is to go for what one self is feeling is the right thing or waiting until your inner voice can make itself heard. I think Rosadas answer gives echo to my own inner voice. Many thanks Rosada and all of you for all inspiring answers.:bows:

Yes do what you feel . I never meant 'don't do it' BTW but with hex 10 I would say there is always an element of being careful. Theres is a tigers tail one has to be careful of treading on - what it is you have to be careful over, to watch your step on only you know :)

I know trojan, you never said "don't do it". You post were full of insight and truth about my situation. It's me having difficulties to sort out things inside myself and that is why my psychologist is telling me to be very careful before asking for advice...

Well changing appearance can really make you feel different. I know when I've even been careless about what hairdresser to go to I've lived to regret it, lol

Thank you for the kind words, plupp!

Trojan makes a good point, so for the archives...
10.5's advice, "Perseverance with the awareness of danger" can mean, "Go, but you mustn't take everything suggested as gospel."

Interesting you are now working on issues about taking the advice of others. Seems this could be The Universe giving you a not too risky opportunity to practice hearing advice, but deciding for yourself if you agree with it.

Yes, in the end it always comes back to yourself, no possibility of running away from your problems, I will have to decide what to do with the advices - from this forum and from the relooking thing should I decide to go...:p Ah, life is a never ending school!
