Advice on 46, 11, 36 to 22

I'm just beginning with the Yi and I'm having a lot of difficulty with the transition of (46 to)11 to 36 and finally to 22. It just doesn't seem to flow (and it's difficult enough with those sequences that do flow) So, any advice would be truly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your response. I try to compare Wilhelm's, LiSe's and Legge's interpretations. While I have held myself "aloof:" on such maters in many years I find myself of all things, in a matter of interaction of
the heart.... oh dear, what can I say other than what we hold ourself aloof from, we will come to meet. At any regard, this I'm sure is a
transitional period. I have asked the Yi what one in a corresponding position would like to see happen... whuch I'm not at all sure is an appropriate question but none the less asked.

For many years I have been in a lesser aquisition of eastern philosophy but I am none the less trying vigorously to apply to my life. Centeredness.
Probably a bit more than you asked, but here it is.

Using coins I'm basically asking what this one would wish to happen between
us. With 46, 6 at 1 advancing at in the same spirit then 11, bearing with
inperfection and 36 to 22 eludes me.

Yellowblue, I am still a little bit at a loss as to what you are doing. So you received hexagram 46? The changing lines were 6 and 1? or it changed to hexagram 1? Or did it change to hexagram 11? Was 36 to 22 another question?

Hi Deb,

My apologies for not responding sooner. My work schedule's been kinda nuts.

There aren't enough details for me to interpret the changes to your situation, but I would like to respond to the continuity of your readings.

Often, people expect their answers to flow, as say, one ocean wave into the next. I've found that most often the answers appear more like facets on a gem stone. The first view is round while the second has different angles. Isn't this how conversation usually unfolds? Yi's council is no different. In order to see something as it is, it often requires looking at it from different angles and perspectives.

For example: 36 to 22 could be seen as being primarily about outer form and inner content being consistent with each other. In this case, hiding or protecting your light could be the means of improving your appearance. Withholding, not tossing away yourself - can be a demonstration of inner beauty expressing itself in outer form.

If we listen to Yi in the form of everyday conversation, we're often able to see the simplicity of its answers, rather than something purely altruistic, deep and philosophical.

I think that Deb is using the step-by-step, cumulative method for multiple changing lines. That is, she received 46 with lines 1,2 and 6 changing and rather than looking at lines 1,2 and 6 in #46, she...

read and changed 46,1 and received 11
read and changed 11,2 and received 36
read and changed 36,6 and received 22

Yellowblue got 46, 6 at bottom, 9 at 2nd, 6 at top, so this changing line by line brings the sequence of unfolding hexagrams: 46->11->36->22

Here's my go at it, with the disclaimer that without the question, one single answer cant be inferred (or worse, Im assuming what the question is). Also Im not taking lines into account much, you can read 46:1,2&6, then 22:1,2&6 for the reverse perspective; read also 11:2 and 36:6, and try to get some sense out of it all...)

An act of will on your part is necessary in order to balance your world. This may be some sort of purification, a need to present yourself at your peak to the world, but also rising above the aspects that are causing stagnation in your life. In any case you must sweat it, cause things wont change for themselves. That will bring a period of potential, but it is not the time to act on public display yet, or better said, your perseverance must be interior, no need to show it to others (only god and you need to know). Soon things will change, but for now better hide your light, in order not to bring attention too soon, and allow a proper sustained development till youre fully prepared. Then after the process is completed, your inner beauty will shine through and you will be able to assert your self. Keep in mind the real beauty is within. The effort you pulled at first will show its merits now, and the stronger and more determined you are now, the better the results will be later on. Now go to LiSe's site and read 46 and 22. Enlightening stuff

Would seem a better idea to just read the primary hexagram, changing lines and relating hexagram - much less complex for a beginner - and as far as I'm concerned perfectly adequate.

I would just deal with 46, lines 1,2 and 6 and the relating hex, 22. The rest would give me a headache.
