My mother and I have begun to collect gemstones and rocks. Just a hobby. We found books and websites claiming that gemstones can have healing properties. So I asked Iching..

How successful gemstones have healing properties...and received the answer hexagram 29 (no moving lines)

How successful the only effect we have from gemstones is enjoying their appearance...answer hex. 52


So, do you think it is nonsense that gemstones have any effect on the human body? For example...one website claimed...quartz..can provide overall healing of the body.

Collect as a hobby, but don't believe that the gemstones can cure. Yi warns you that there is a danger in having these beliefs...not much will happen once you get stuck in that chasm (H29).

Similarly, to your second question, Yi suggests you just still yourself. Don't carry thoughts around about this...let them go, and still yourself. Someone who is still can hear and feel; someone who has beliefs may miss what is there. Perhaps you will learn something about gems if you approach them quietly.
