I got some news yesterday - my ex-boyfriend who I split up with about 8 months ago emailed me to let me know that he's getting married tomorrow.

My initial and strongest response is that I'm happy for him and that I wish him all the best and hope that he's really happy. I've left a message for him to that effect and he does sound as though he is.

But aren't those little voices a bugger?! (Sorry )

The one that says: sure you're happy for him, sure you don't want to be standing at the alter with him instead but come on admit it - there is a part of you asking - why didn't you want to be there with me?

Whilst I don't think it would be healthy to completely supress this voice I am wondering slightly how much to indulge in it? Things have moved on a lot since then and I don't want to be dragged backwards.

Not really a yi question (I don't think?) but some advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Love
Nicky

Why not? :mischief:

If you get 5.5 - 11, I think a quart of Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia may help to restore your peace. ;)

I will admit to indulging in 61.2 last night, except substitue the goblet for a bottle and take out the sahring part!! Actually running closer to 64.6!!

Ice cream would go well with the chocolate and copious amounts of tea!! :D

I think that, dangerously ;), this is actually the motto of my life!

So I have:
Please could you advise on the nature of little voices?
58.1.4.5 - 7

Do you reckon they both amuse and discipline me?
Actually line 5 kinda reflects on the above sentence a little

Please advise on the indulgement of such voices?

Sounds like - take it easy?

From intensity in expression comes uniformity (they all start to sound the same)

Keep words close to the facts - avoid highs/lows - level things out, be modest etc.

Nicky, just a couple of thoughts..

An army or militia works as a single unit, where as your lines in 58 run hither and thither as individuals. I think entertainment and sense of inner drama play a large role in this, yes. This form of joy can stimulate the imagination, which if not disciplined can disrupt the sameness or unity of an organized mind. To complicate it further, not all members of the cast are well intentioned. Ill intentioned members are to be corrected and cast out from the controlling ranks of your troops. The inner general needs a strong voice, and he/she must win the cooperation of the other members in the troops. Line 5 indeed shows the danger involved in entertaining disintegrating or destructive forces, as this undermines your own inner authority.

15 brings elements together through equalizing of extremes.

H58
(1) Contemplation is natural.
(4) As long as it does not become a crutch.
(5) Belief if disintegrating influences is dangerous.
H7 Organize confusion, dispelling illusions, clearing things away.

H15 Do not over indulge, levelling, balance. Avoiding excess by keeping 'grounded'.

Hi guys,

Thanks very much for your responses.

I did find it a little disturbing that there could be some part of me that was revelling in tormenting myself. But maybe as kenresting suggest maybe that is natural to a degree.

Yes! I have a hard time sometimes distinguishing the teaching and helpful ones from the destructive self-deprecating ones. Maybe that's where the humour comes in? It has been suggested before that I 'suffer' inappropriate humour but they do say laughter is the best medicine ;)

Was looking at LiSe's title for 15 - 'Give and take'. In my family that quite often translates to 'give as good as you get!' Think the indulgence might be over and 'fighting Nicky' is back!!

Thanks again
Love
Nicky
