Dear fellow students of the I Ching,
In my life as an artist who makes handmade books in very small editions, I created a book to illuminate the hexagrams of the I Ching using poetry and photocollage. It has two spines at the top and bottom which enables the reader to match upper and lower trigrams, and then see the images associated with those trigrams as a pair, or hexagram. (Hope that makes sense.)
It is titled “Later Heaven”, and here is a link to view it online:

What a marvelous idea. How did you come up with te neames of the trigrams -- they're different depending on where they're placed in the hexagram (top or bottom), yes?

Many thanks for your kind comment.
I think of the words that describe the trigrams as a line in a poem. I studied many I Ching texts, and interpretations and distilled my poetry from there. I also selected the color pallet for each hexagram and images based on my reading. I wanted the reader to create a short poem when trigram pages are combined to make a full reading or hexagram.
