So my situation is like that of hexgram 18.
It came to me after I asked about sending a message which would try to up the chaos invovled in this relationship.

and the Yi advised 18.2.6

I like what one has said about line 2 in a previous thread I searched:

"Line 2 I take as advising you to be fairly gentle and sensitive in your correction - like a mother. " -Louise

Of line 6 somone said:

"18.6 is the signal of a noble who has higher motives, and so his fall is ascension, no disgrace." -Prynne

Does anyone have anything to add to this?

It changes to 15, which means be humble. Stay low. But it does not mean that of 62 which is not to do anything and lie dorment. It's more about augmenting what is insuffiecnet and decreasing what is extraneous.

Can anyone give me some clues to taking on an affair like this. I have to fix the past which was melodramatic...

This hexagram seems to imply that one should spend a whole time cycle on it's work.

3 days before begin 3 days after begining. Thats a whole 6 days, almost a week or a whole hexgram of time.

Do not take the 'three days' thing too literally. A cycle of time could be many months also. You will have to intuit the time. What I think this saying means is that one should carefully consider the reforms before making changes and then after making the change, carefully watch to see the effects of the change. It requires a great deal of caution before AND after makiing a change. I refer you also the the fifth line of the Gentle, Hexagram 57, which also has that saying attached to it.

Hex 18: That which has been spoiled can be rejuvenated through effort.

18.2 means that an underlying fear keeps you from seeing the truth. Be gentle, but persistent in locating and releasing it.
You may have resentment over how your situation has revealed and want to lay blame, but avoid this. There is a lot to be learned if you can stop resisting what you already know in your heart. Withdraw - meditate to find the true answer.
18.6 -Steer clear of business and politics. Don't force the issue, or blame others but be open in order to realize the hidden potential. Resulting Hex 15 confirms this.
