I got a series of strange responses recently, and I want to share them with you because I think they give us an occasion to learn something, or at least to think it over. Furthermore I?d like to get a feedback from someone not involved in the issue, because there is always the possibility that one has a wrong or biased perspective.

Literal meanings?

It seems that sometime the sentences of I Ching can and must be taken literally. Did it happen to you too?
Let?s see the chronology of the events.

Friday 10th of March I got the following answer to my question: ?What I need to know now??

59. Huan / Dispersion [Dissolution], first changing line

above SUN THE GENTLE, WIND
below K'AN THE ABYSMAL, WATER

Wind blowing over water disperses it, dissolving it into foam and mist.

THE IMAGE

The wind drives over the water:
The image of DISPERSION.
Thus the kings of old sacrificed to the Lord
And built temples.

Six at the beginning means:
He brings help with the strength of a horse.
Good fortune.

Needless to say I didn?t understand that answer. But only two days later, Sunday 12 of March, there was an exceptionally violent tempest of wind in my town. I own a sailing boat moored in the local marina; knowing what it could cause and worried about it, I ran to the harbour to check if everything was all right. The wind was blowing so strong that it dispersed the water in whirling sprays all over the place. Three boats had their mooring ropes get broken but were rescued just in time before they crashed against the pontoon or to other boats. One of them was moored beside mine, luckily the owner of a nearby boat saw that the rope was going to be cut and quickly replaced it with another one. If he was not there at the right moment that boat would have crashed against mine causing lot of damage, if not its sinking.
Another translation of the same line says: ?Engaged in rescuing fast as a horse?.

Wednesday 22nd of March, I obtained the following exagrams:

55. F?ng / Abundance [Fullness]

Nine in the third place means:
The underbrush is of such abundance
That the small stars can be seen at noon.
He breaks his right arm . No blame.

51. Ch?n / The Arousing (Shock, Thunder)

Again, I did not quite understand those answers, in relation to the issue I had in mind. But in the night between Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd, I felt a light shake of earthquake that was confirmed the following morning by the press. There have been two other shakes the following days, not very strong but enough to be worried about. And mind ? where I live is a place considered earthquake-free by the scholars, and actually it?s something that happened very rarely.

Then, today (28th of March) reading the news I hear that tomorrow there will be an eclipse of the sun about at 12,30. I couldn?t help remembering the I Ching line above.

So, what do you think about all that ? coincidences or synchronicity?
Too me the whole story seems unbelievable, three literal prophecies in a very short span of time. Am I seeing things where there are none?

Hi Donato,
As you received 55.3 changing to 51 this suggests to me the eclipse comes first and then the earthquake. So I think it will be interesting to watch to see if there is another earthquake where you live coming shortly after the eclipse. Let us know!

I always love these stories where the words of the I Ching are so closely mirrored by life's actual events! Like many of us, I have amassed quite a few translations and might just as often pick one instead of another after doing a toss. What amazes me is how often I will discover that the translation I picked up at "random" spoke clearly to my question, while a different translation of the same line would have made no sence at all.

Hi, Donato -

Yes, I've experienced what you describe above, when the answers instantiate in reality in oddly literal ways. I

I think this isn't particularly unusual. In my view, this is an aspect of the intelligence that the I Ching displays when it answers our questions - it not only answers us, but serves to "shake us up" a bit so we question our inherent assumptions about what we are dealing with.

Donato yes I would even go so far as to say the Yi actually seems to me to be as literal as it can, given the question.

Hi Donato -
We had the eclipse earlier today. While I was out walking my dog, I found myself thinking about that and you and your receiving hexagram 55.3. These thoughts occured to me as I was slipping my arm through the loop of the dog's leash. As the words of 55.3, "He breaks his right arm" came to mind I thought, "This is too odd. I think maybe I'd better just hold the leash in my hand." Just as I was slipping the rope off my arm another dog suddenly appeared and just as suddenly my dog leaped after him - so suddenly I was knocked to my knees before I could let go of the leash! I shutter to think what might have happened had the rope still been wrapped around my arm.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. I think you may have prevented an accident.

...I was able to read your posts only now.

It's good to know that other people experienced the same perceptions.

Rosada,
I was (and still am) a bit worried about the possibility to damage my arm, having seen how things can turn. Actually I have a pain in my left arm sice few months that prevent me from doing certain things. I hope the profecy could limit only to that!
It's really courious what happened to you, perhaps a chain effect? The oracle knew I would have posted it and that you read the post... and so on...

The oracle knows everything, it sees us come, and we are all at home.
