The message I drew out of 30.5 is "blessing in disguise" fraught with emotional tension ("floods of tears") due to frustration.

I have never got this line before and would much appreciate any experience with it.

I've got a weird one with this line.

My question was if my employers would terminate my contract before it ended.
The reason I asked was because things were not going well for the company and I was worried.

The answer says floods of tears, and lucky - and 13 speaks of meeting people out there.
I had no clue as to what it might mean, because ok I was worried, but for sure I wasn't crying over it!

In the end, one of the employers arranged a meeting with me.
I went to meet him on a day of torrential rain.
I actually had to walk in the rain from one company building to another.
The meeting went well (lucky) and my contract continued.

Wonderful :)

Once I got this line, the "flood of tears" moment stressed me out a little.

Well I've seen it mean actual tears too.
I've also seen it refer to having a shower (don't ask).
It seems to end well, when only this line changes.

Hi, Juliah:

Don't worry for the tears, not always they mean sorrow or misfortune but emotion which can have positive or negative reasons.

In the context of H.30, trigram ☲ symbolizing fire / middaughter doubled, PASSION OVER PASSION, can be even tearing or sighing for pleasure.

The name of H.30, , means: to leave / to part from / to be away from. It has associations with FREEDOM. I had sometimes the feeling that it can mean a BIRD flying away, struggling for his freedom.

Of course, all depends on the nature of your consult.

Yours,

Charly

Hi Charly,

Thank you for your input and cheering me up.

(This line was the second one which came up in response to my question about gaining employment.)

Hi, Juliah:

I've just remembered from where I got the idea of the bird, from LiSe Heyboer:

She traces the story of the character li

Traditional: 離 (separation) = 离 (strange beast) + 隹 (short tailed bird)

Ancient:
hex30-a.gif
= net with handle + short tailed bird.

While the traditional left component is a strange animal, the ancient was a net with a handle which, I believe, makes clear the image of FIRE as a CAUGHT BIRD when it became the CENTER of HOME.

Lotty's is one of the translations with commentaries that I love. She says of H.30:

Moments fly past like birds. You will have to catch them right now, to enjoy something when it happens, to seize an opportunity, to realize a flash of insight. Life is full of those bright little birds.
If you can seize them and care for them, they may turn into big things, feeding your life and soul. The sum of all those small things will make your life to a bright and shining one.
The mind can discern and catch those moments. It filters out what is not relevant by letting it slip through the net. The Bright Birds are what is relevant and visible.

LISE's Oracle of the Sun (1): http://www.yijing.nl/i_ching/

My own translation of 30.5 is a little different from hers, not better, of course:

出涕沱若
chu1 ti4 tuo2 ruo4
ISSUING TEARS RIVER LIKE
Sprouting like a river of tears.

戚嗟若
qi1 jie1 ruo4
SORROW SIGH LIKE
Worries like a sigh.

ji2
LUCKY
Fortunate.

All the best,

Charly

Hi, Juliah:

I was thinking that with some little corrections, making two clauses more literal, a parallellism might become more perceptible:

«... TEARS LIKE RIVERS»,

«WORRIES LIKE SIGHS»
.

... both pass. And this is lucky.

May you catch the bird of work.

But if not, don't worry too much. It means that you deserved more.

yours,

Charly

Charly, you shed the light on this line.

I'll renew the subject when I see how it plays out.

Hi diamanda, Could you please inform me for how long did you wait till your answer to be fulfilled?
I have received this answer a lot of days ago when I asked if my exfiance will come to visit me. Also, I took the same answer days ago when I asked for how long I have to wait till to be together again.

Hi springflower,

I asked the question about 1 month before my contract was due for termination.
However keep in mind here that my question was the opposite of yours.
And, my question had to do with a company (= many people), not a personal/couple relationship.

I asked "will it be terminated" - you're asking will he come, and will you two be together.
13 speaks of 'many people', not of a couple.
That's where the good fortune lies - in lots of water/tears, and 'many people' - not a one-to-one.
Each answer depends on what the question was, we can't apply a blanket-meaning to every cast.

Thank you for the answer! I undestand what you mean.
I received the same answer twice. first: Will he come to visit me? and second How long does it take tll to be together again? I supposed yes on the first because 13 means and travel. I am not sure how the answer applies on my second question and what is trying to show me.

Hi springflower,

for me it was that feeling when truth comes up and it hurts too much,,and generally issue is tearful and emotional for you,,but don't worry it's all for the better..the truth cannot be hidden...something becomes clear to you and this causes distress...

Better to see clearly through tears than be in head-dizzying smoke...It's like you cry and sun shines bright through the clouds...just some association...

It's time to tell about my experience. Late in January I asked if I would get a job within next three months and received 30.2.5 > 1. I did not get a job but I got a very important for me spiritual experience accompanied by a physical pain and emotional distress. Yes, tears and groaning, and my family supported me greatly.

Clarity has lifted the veil of itself to me, a little. Well, I believe, it has.

On the day of my mother's funeral I asked how I could best honor her, and got this line. It made me feel free to cry and cry, which, while I don't know if it was "lucky," was probably good for me. Also, after the mass, at the graveside part of the service, there was a torrential downpour throughout, so all our tears and all that rain mixed together. "Weeping tears like flowing streams" and "sad as if in mourning" quite literally.

But I also had this line a few years ago for "X and her effect on my life for the next six months." Also lots of tears and not the good kind, and while it did not feel lucky at all at the time, things resolved in a good direction about 18 months after I asked the question.

I've also had this line for seeing upsetting problems, but then that seeing leading to fixing them.

Thought I would add my experience here with 30.4.5.6>63 because it contains some parallels with other 30.5 experiences described. On March 10 my friend and I saw two stray, collar-less dogs wandering near a freeway. My heart sank. We got the dogs into our car and drove them around the neighborhood, trying to find someone who recognized them. No one did. Later the president of the neighborhood watch committee (huge animal lover/amazing person named Mary) and I put up signs, knocked on doors for hours to try and figure out where dogs came from. No luck. Mary later took dogs to county shelter because that would be most likely place for owner to look for them and because a huge rainstorm was descending. We also put up notices on Internet. No luck anywhere - no one ever claimed these two adorable dogs and county shelter told me that they were subject to euthanization. I freaked out, vowed to do everything possible to get them off death row. On March 23 I received 30.4.5.6 when I asked I Ching for guidance on day of emotional visit to dogs at shelter.

To make a long story short both dogs were placed into good new homes by April 10, thus providing a very happy ending to a situation that had stirred up both tears and panic on my part because I love animals and at moments I felt helpless.

An extra bonus occurred in the aftermath. Frequently I shop at amazon.com and use smile.amazon.com which enables part of your purchase to benefit a charity of your choosing. To my delight I discovered that I could select Pug Nation (wonderful organization which placed one of the dogs) as my designated charity. Every time I make a purchase I feel good knowing that a small amount of money is going to a good cause. All things considered I completely agree with Juliah's assessment at beginning of this thread:
30.5 is "blessing in disguise" fraught with emotional tension ("floods of tears") due to frustration.

For me 30.5 was always actual tears. Specifically flood of tears and nothing good.

So often the I Ching leaves with nothing but our own resources to figure out the meaning of an answer, and the answer only comes by placing it squarely into the context of the reading. So, as has been previously noted, tears can be tears of joy as well as sorrow, so how do you know? Well, with a lot of intuition, and that is especially hard when reading for yourself.

However, as a general rule, the hexagram itself is about clarity, or clarifying a situation. The fifth line is in the center of the upper trigram for light. So often it is the case that when we are so confused, and so concerned about a given situation, that when we finally find the truth of that situation, the light shed can be terrifying, or extremely satisfying. Therefore once we are enlightened, or at least disillusioned, there is an occasion for happiness for the fact that we are no longer under illusion, or we can be very sad because things didn't turn out the way we wanted. We can make that choice, to be happy or sad according to the way we perceive the enlightening situation. It is good to know the truth, whether that truth be for us or against us, so we can choose which way we want to cry about it. The fifth line is also near the top of the hexagram, so the person here can be becoming wiser with age. This may make us sad, or it may make us happy. Again, which way to choose to perceive it is up to us. The W/B version commentary says, "understanding the vanity of all things..." When we choose to accept life on its own terms, we are free to advance or retreat as we choose, and no longer be attached to things that we do not need to be attached to, but at one time we thought those things so very important ....

In my experience, 30.5 means "first, transition from unawareness to understanding that the loss is irretrievable, then grieving".

In my experience, 30.5 means "first, transition from unawareness to understanding that the loss is irretrievable, then grieving".
I got this one today and the question was "where can i find my s pen?"
My s pen is an object i have lost yesterday inside the house and i'm mad looking for it and can't find it. I need it to work on my tablet.
IT IS RAINING and i am frustrated because "i can't retrieve it"
Ur answer males a lot of sense to me, BUT, does 'good fortune' mean i will find it??

Hi Kirilov. If you'd like help with your reading, it should be in its own new thread in the Shared Readings forum so that it will be noticed better. You can start a thread by clicking here.

ime the ‘good fortune’ in 30.5 indicates that - despite all the mournings and endings- life will go on and the universe will provide me with new connections and new chances (13) … and i should let go.
I wont get sucked down into a sinkhole as in 29. Here a new sun will rise and a new day will come.

There are a lot of other pencils available out there for you, so consider yourself lucky….
