I am a first time user of this site. My question was 'What do I need most to learn in this lifetime?' and Yi's answer was 58.1.5 to 40.

The notes that went with this were very interesting, but I would still like any thoughts and clarification if anyone would like to reply to this.

Thanks,
Marina

To release yourself from the tendency to self-sabotage your joy and relationships.

Hexagram 58 is about joy and delight. Line 1 mentions the joy of harmony. Alternatively, line 5 warns about how we may be exploited or endangered. So I guess the lesson here would be about becoming more discriminating about people, learning to avoid those who would do us harm.

Line 1: Contented joyousness. Good fortune.

A quiet, wordless, self-contained joy, desiring nothing from without and resting content with everything, remains free of all egotistic likes and dislikes. In this freedom lies good fortune, because it harbors the quiet security of a heart fortified within itself.

This line speaks of Buddha teaching. Don't seek external pleasures, they only bind you to this material world. The best source of joy is already inside.

Line 5 warns about not letting external 'disintegrating influences' get to you.

And if you follow line 1 and heed the warning of line 5, you will get Liberation (Hex 40).

It's been my experience that most all 'disintegrating influences' come from within, i.e. self-talk.

The same for h47. In fact I intend to open a poll on this matter soon.
