Anyone can help to interpret this divination?

Hi everyone, I am new to this Forum and would like to seek some help on an I-Ching divination I just made.

The question is about will I be able to join back the Police Force and the divination is one of 36 and with changing lines to 4.

Can anyone help with this?

I am a little hesitant to answer questions that are so straight forward yes or no. The I Ching really doesn't too often answer specifically that way. However, I do believe you are saying hexagram 36 line 4, is that correct? This line is usually not too positive, especially for government positions. The Wilhelm Baynes version says, "...we realize there is no longer any hope of improvement, and thus we are able to leave the scene of the disaster..." I noticed you said, join back. I suspect, you mean by that, return. Is there something hidden in this situation? You don't have to answer, just think about it. The commentary also mentions the commander of darkness.

For most lines, if not all, there are more than one possible interpretation.

One thing I've seen 36.4 mean is the possibility of influencing a person who is (at least appears to be) cold-hearted - by appealing to their emotions and/or what sense of decency they have left. Sometimes you can change them (a little) this way.

So, it *might* be that the Yi is suggesting this to you as a means to accomplish what you are trying to. Is there a "person in charge" who you could influence to help your chances?

If this doesn't seem to fit (or possibly even if it does) the approach Gene discusses is good - it's the more generally accepted view of this line.
