Anyone ever look at their hex distribution over time?

I mean like going and looking at your past readings in order to see if there are any trends? It would make the most sense, I think, if you did it for all your questions about a certain situation, since if you're comparing like "should I move to such-and-such location?" and "should I take this new job offer," those aren't really related.

I did it for first hexes, second hexes, and both together. Here is a chart of the total hexes (first and second).

I've gotten hex 15 the most. Perhaps this is saying that I need to be more humble in my approach to the situation. The second most has been 36, "Brightness Hiding." I'm not sure how I feel about that one.

I don't think it has any bearing how many of this or that you receive over a month, year or whatever, because what counts is the answer you received to the question posed.

Personally I only pay attention to the question and answer, as Hex distribution cannot be compared to crop circles or the rainfall patterns of the Sahara desert, so receiving the same hex on a number of different occasions for completely different questions has no significance.

I'm just wondering why you ignore me Einhorn each time i suggest some of the questions you ask would be better placed in Exploring Divination ?

This is Shared Readings. You aren't sharing a reading you are asking a general question...an interesting question, so why not post it where it belongs because then you may even get more responses

If you took all the trouble to do the chart you may as well take the trouble to post it in the part of the forum it belongs

Your question about what translation people liked a while back would probably also have got far more response in Exploring Divination because its a general divination question...not a reading you are sharing.

I mean post where you like its just a suggestion..

I see why Einhorn might be posting to Shared Readings. Because it's more the first place people go to post and learn?

Trojan is right, though, Einhorn. Since you were not asking any question, but rather presenting a very interesting chart -- I think it's wonderful! -- the best place for it would have been Exploring Divination.

But then I probably would never have seen the chart, because even though I've been a member for awhile, I don't think I've ever been over to Exploring Divination. I don't have all day to be on the Internet; my time is limited that way. So I just visit a few places

Shared Readings gets a lot of traffic and one assumes that whatever one posts will be seen by more people. So that makes it more of a contribution.

The predominance of H15 and H36 in your readings says to me that you find yourself in a situation in which you have to hide most of your true capabilities, so you are advised to lay low and take an approach in line with the reality of your limited situation. But in fact we all have limitations and perhaps you have ambitions that are too large for your external circumstances? Sometimes, for example, we hope to accomplish a lot, but don't have the resources, the support from others, or even the energy to do so. And Yi says in a couple of places that there is not much that a person can accomplish as a lone individual. Being effective in carrying out some of our more ambitious plans and getting connected with the right group or the right leader are synonymous.

And if you do not have that kind of support -- well, then, nobody can blame you, because there is very little you can do on your own. So don't blame yourself, either.

sorry, i'm used to forums where mods can move threads that are in the wrong forum, and also where people get banned for making duplicate threads in multiple forums. so i never thought to post the same question in another forums >.<

No you're wrong there i think because many people who might be interested in Einhorns question don't come to this area at all. Hence with general questions like this, if they aren't posted in Exploring Divination may not get many responses

hey no need to be sorry I'm not a moderator. It just seems a pity with a chart like this not to put it in the other area...but it doesn't really matter..I just wondered if you were aware you might get more responses over there thats all

Your question is one I have thought about but I am so bad at charts and numbers i never can figure it out but I know some hexagrams I get all the time...and some I never do...so I admired your chart...yet I don't have anything intelligent to say about it ...

BTW 15 is not particularly about being humble, that is just our association with the word 'modesty' its just about being authentic, real, being who you are. So in some ways its the opposite of being humble for if someone is presenting no false image to themselves or others but being simply who they are they will neither over estimate nor underestimate themselves...15 can come as a reminder to simply do what needs to be done without worrying about how things look or over complicating things

Oh, that's a good point. I wasn't thinking of it that way.

I'm glad to have seen Einhorn's chart. Nice to see someone is good at making a chart like this.
