Great Vigour (34) speaks of strength and the capacity to succeed if action is undertaken with propriety and constancy.

Background: I have received this same hexagram 34.3 for a previous job application to the same company. I applied too much strength on that occasion and the ram got entangled... 34 became "great injury" bc what started off looking great, turned out to not work at all. Rigidity, no concessions, too many people involved, poor planning on their part as well.

Lines 4 and 5 seem a lot better this time around, more auspicious, and are literally a segue from 34.3 - from entanglement to disentanglement. I can't grasp h5 as a relating hex - am I waiting, needy, on the threshold of something? I'm unemployed and in a difficult life situation (which I've described in another thread). I do have a sense of guilt bc I'm trying to go at it again and afraid people won't support me this time bc of what happened in the past.

I then asked for general advice on job applications and got 40.5.6 > 6. To me this says, I'm conflicted about options but should 'decide' and deliver myself quickly from inferior or injurious elements. I wonder if this means removing what has cause problems and injury in the past? This could be "the company" or my own obstinacy with some of the terms and conditions or the complexities around it all. Is this delivering myself from my self?

Thanks for your input.

34 – 5 sounds like a tip to wait for the moment, the right timing, the right opportunity...

oh thanks! it does look like what you say here. I just can't tell if the hot tip :) applies to this job (now coming at the right time and such bc I asked about this one not others) or another opportunity to come. given my situation, I'll have to give it a try.
Matali, I'm grateful for your feedback (also in previous posts of mine if my memory serves me well). As always, I'll come back with feedback in a few months time (this process will take a while).

Note to self and others: I've joined the forum last year after many years of just reading the website's content and consulting the book. I promised I'd always come back to my threads with feedback and experienced outcomes - and I did it systematically. recently, I've also endeavoured to spend some time and provide input in our shared readings when I had direct or repeated experiences with their castings (hexs/lines).

For some reason, though, this doesn't seem to come full circle. Does it? How many people receive detailed feedback on long threads and never follow up on them to say how the situation played out? And the same people always seem to comment (not to say 'only' comment) posts from the same people. I get it: familiarity, connectivity (sometimes different time zones), these things matter! But generosity, solidarity, reciprocity, and constancy also go farther than that.

Coming back here a year later with the benefit of hindsight and lessons learned.

h34.4.5 > 5: this is the Yi saying (in keywords) "well, wait for the time when you'll be able to apply your mighty strength" if you have a lot of ram/horned-animal energy in you, beware of not getting entangled and losing yourself at the mound by rushing to the goal: WAIT!. consider if you are literally, not just figuratively, the ram in this hexagram (Aries, Taurus, Cap).

of course, line 34. 4 also indicates that "a fence breaks open" as in you worry about being able to enter X and you expect difficulties in accessing it (this job) but the door is wide open. this is not dissimilar from 46.3, when one expects hardships but ascension to the temple hill is easy, almost guaranteed (I've experienced the latter line twice after this casting and this is exactly what they mean).

line 34.5 indicates that strength is also being able to let go; beware of getting entangled up in possessions. I like what LiSE says about this. NB.:If there was an alarm bell or red flag re a situation or event, believe your own intuition; don't get bogged down and over-react which can lead to entangling your horns. In this case, I did get the job I was asking about; there were solid reasons why I declined a version of it, the first time around, but good reasons why I reapplied and got it; however, I could have had better suited offers if I had waited for a better time and trusted my own instincts. By waiting, I literally mean 2-3 months, and then even more in 8-9months.

40.5.6 > 6: this is Yi continuing the conversation by saying "ahhh, you're so conflicted about what and how to decide! if you have a place to go, go, if not, then don't go. ... I already told you above, re job applications, that you will get to your target (lines 5 and 6), you will shoot/hit the falcon" Just beware of l5 which according to LiSe contains 'inspiring trust in small people' (this can literally means trusting small and inferior people) and l6 which talks about "shooting the falcon" (this can be hitting the target as intended, but also the need to remove birds of prey and doubts from one's head). There is an ambiguity in both lines. That said, one can also take risks and grab opportunities and them move on from into greater vistas.
