Hi all,

I joined this religious organization for 9 years. Now they ask me to decide to be a disciple by attending a ceremony.......I get 43.1.3.5.6, 64.

It seems to me a struggle without hesitation.

thoughts.:)

hi johnny,
yesterday I read about huang method to interpreting the hexs....
your combination reminded me this method of reading, so I decided to apply to your case ...
At first impression watching the two hexagrams... it seems that there are conditions beyond and the strength to be..... but something tells me you you're not entirely convinced ... for one reason or another... I do not dwell on that! is evident from 64 that still is not time to become one!
returning to the method of reading... huang he says:
If there are four moving lines, consult only the upper of the two non moving lines.
then I going to read that line... in this case is the 4th one:
9 at four: your instincts leads you to act, but is not yet the right time.
well... all seems so clear and precise in reference to your case! and also match exactly my feeling about the image given from the combination of the two hexs!!!
have a nice day!!:)

What do you want to know exactly, whether to commitment or not?

Hex 43 and lines are about joining together with others in a community type setting, much likes taking the vows to become a "disciple".
If you feel like committing then there's no problem, afterall, religious vows bind those who want to be bound.

Hex 64 suggests that this ceremony will give you some kind of authority if you choose to accept.

The lake higher than heaven is like a cloud. Unlike a lake at ground level, this one is remote from man-made boundaries. The noble one is like a cloud: distributing gifts generously, and because of inner inspiration (outer trigram lake – communication, sharing – powered by inner trigram heaven), not because of any influence. Not giving because you’re tied, or obliged, or because of what anyone might say, but because you dwell in de.

Have you had a look at the wikiwing? If not go have a look - in terms of your question and your wish to commit I think it is rather interesting. I like your interpretation by the way but I am not sure it is only about not hesitating but rather about clarifying the motives behind your decision first.

In 43, line 1 connected with 28: a choice must be made
line 3 connected with 58: communication with others
line 5 connected with 34: the situation has great potential
line 6 connected with 1: there must be commitment or my plan will amount to
nothing
OR
line 4 connected with 5: more willing to listen to good advice, the situation could be satisfactorily resolved.:)

43.1 take your time to make your decision

43.3 don’t be afraid to walk alone with this but don’t be ‘determined’, be supple and flexible in your self-reasoning. Do it for the spiritual benefit it will bring YOU and not just to be part of a community or group

43.5 make your decision after a period of contemplation and when you feel centred. Then that decision is unshakeable and expresses your inner being.

43.6 yes, if necessary seek advice from someone you trust but don’t give in to prevarication or let it paralyse your decision making.

For me 64 is about commitment or not.

I don’t think it is telling you what to do but I think it is guiding you in how to come to a decision that is right for you. Whatever that is.

best wishes......

Yes, I want to commit.

Then your time has finally arrived. You have thought about this for 9 years, you are mentally prepared, make the transition, you are coming out of the dark into the light, you are near completion.

Yes, well, looking at the wrong hex.

Anyway, back to Hex 43 and lines, "break through", a transition into a "disciple", if he believes then he declares himself at the upcoming ceremony, he makes his pronouncement in front of the "elders" of the group. Therefore he should indeed proceed.

Yes I agree about 43 being a decisive moment I am just not so sure it is predictive in this case. All those moving lines signify some internal/external activities and 64 does remind not to get the fox's tail in the water - to be cautious. Decisions arrived at in tranquility are usually the most unshakeable no? The junzi is careful in the differentiation of things so that each finds his place...........

Johnny:

I'd like to add something to what others have said to you.
This seems like quite a major decision for you, a potential turning point. You are, of course, the ONLY ONE who can know what is ultimately the most skillful action for you to take.
I do feel that whatever decision you make, it is best to decide from a united heart and mind. I would suggest that because you received so many changing lines, that Yi is reflecting back to you, the many different considerations in your heart/mind. And how could it be otherwise for such an important decision?
IMO, It is Important to know thoroughly all the places that say Yes within you as well a those that say No:-- And why.

The old fox knows what to do, it is the young and inexperienced fox who gets his tail wet.

Therefore after 9 years, surely Johny knows what to do now?

yeah I see what you are saying but nine years of decision making or nine years of participating? It is his decision and it is an important one. The question is asked now, not nine years ago; so I figure the answer is advising against being the young fox - ie take your time to work through the process of the lines but likewise don't let that process become an excuse to avoid making a decision.

Hence 64 and not, for instance, 63 - already across

No, 9 years of participating, so he is quite well prepared for the ceremony, and he is certainly past the novice stage by now.

Hi all,

Thanks for clearing my doubts. As I read the replies from all of you, it seems like there are many talkings in my mind.

I would like to tell a little history. I have had been offered to be a disciple a few times but I had rejected them due to my feelings of not ready for it. Once committed, I have to contribute myself to the organisation. I have attended many lessons organised by the organisations, sometimes locally, often oversea in malaysia, a neighbouring country. I have also help during some religious gathering and help to clean the place as my service is required.

Thanks for your concerns.:bows:

This ceremony is to be held in Malaysia in September this year and it takes 3 days and 3 nights. I will let all of you know the outcome then. Should I use this reading to reply?

cool story ... this seems like a neat example of 43 (making decision or making an announcement or proclaiming ) in context of "not yet across the river", or things out of place (64). I wonder if the "not yet" of 64 is the backdrop of the many offers which you decided to decline or not being ready. But, now are proclaiming your acceptance and are ready (43). Great story. Thanks for sharing.

And, much positive energy in your ceremony and acceptance!!

Dear Patro, Willow fox, Lucia, Chushel, Ace,

I am back, successfully made the vow and become a disciple. Thanks for the predictions. I have a lot to learn from you. I went to Malaysia for 4 days and 3 nights. It is a good experience....:duh:

Cheers!

Johnny
