Hello community,

I've asked the iching the outcomes of two things in regard to my child's start in kindergarten next year. One is the outcome if he attends a private school and the other is public school.

Outcome if he attends SHMS:
I ching hex 24 unchanging
24 in what way: hex 27.2.3.4.5>1

Outcome if he attends public school:
I ching hex 8.1.2.3>5

I have asked these questions because I am very concerned about his safety. I still cry over Sandy Hook and another school shooting has had a direct impact on my family. I never thought I would be asking school administrators about their safety policies from an intruder nor did I ever think, that when looking at kindergarten classrooms, I would scope out the best places for my child to hide. I feel so irrational over this although I also truly want what's in his best interest. The private school is extremely expensive and will be a huge financial sacrifice, but his safety is so important to me. One public school makes me doubt his safety while the other two seem good. Thank you.

Hex 24: You need to change your mindset, you are going in the wrong direction.
Why? 27.2.3.4.5 (Nourishment) -> 1(The Creative)
Lines 2,3,5 say you are seeking nourishment in the wrong places/ways.
Line 4 says but you do it because you care.

Also I think it says that paying for the private school only to benefit from the security measures is not optimal. Maybe hiring a body-guard, splitting the cost between all parents is a more creative way?(hex 1).
You also mentioned that this will be a huge sacrifice for you - and Yi asks you - is it really worth it? You need to take care of yourself too.

Outcome if he attends public school:
8.1.2.3(Union) -> 5 (Patient Waiting, Nourishment)

Line 1, Wilhelm: ... "the content is everything and the empty form nothing"...
Public school may not be as pompous and glamorous as a private one, but it does 'deliver' the goods.

I think line 2 says there are good schools, but not all of them (line 3).

I don't know about your country, but in Russia the school starts in September, so I think hex 5 tells you to wait for now, it's not time yet to choose a school.

Wilhelm: We should not worry and seek to shape the future by interfering in things before the time is ripe. We should quietly fortify the body with food and drink and the mind with gladness and good cheer. Fate comes when it will, and thus we are ready.

It's a little early to be asking these questions about schooling that will not begin until a year has passed. Your concern is very fear-based and that is not good. While it is possible that some madman will begin shooting in your son's kindergarten, how likely is it, really? Not very likely.

Your readings show that two of the public schools you mentioned would be good choices while the third would be the wrong choice. And I agree with what Ashteroid said about the private school.

Yes, thank you both for the responses. They mirror what I have been thinking. I know it's not right to make decisions based on fear and another public school option came into view after I posted this. This new school is in our district and, while not one we originally considered, is liked well by both his father and me. The applications for schooling have to be submitted by the end of the month and so I applied for this new public school and another. The third (because we have to choose three) is not liked as much, but hopefully he will get accepted to either our first or second choices. The private school I do not think is an option as, to the point mentioned, is beyond our capabilities. I don't think it's really worth it. Thank you both!

Just to give ginnie and ashteroid an update, I received a letter today saying my child has been accepted to a very good traditional public school that feeds into two of of the best middle and high schools in the system. It was our first choice, although we had made two others that his father and I thought would be best. I feel so very blessed and excited for our son. He his smart beyond his years and often asks me about when he will be held in God's arms again. It's a spiritual knowledge that I have embraced and encouraged and, with the right nurturing, is a knowledge that I hope he will always carry with him.
