My I ching casting is success oriented. Currently I'm in a period of stagnation with no initiative and asked three questions.

The first one was:
1.Should I continue with my profession and I got (Oppression/Exhaustion) Hexagram 47.2.6 -> Transformed Hexagram Stagnation 12. Does this means if I continue I get stagnation?

The second question:
2. Can I change the situation? The results were: Gathering 45.6 > Stagnation 12. Here I got the same result.

The third question:
3. What should I do to move on? 33 Hexagram (retreat). No changing lines. Action- Disengage.

I’m just a beginner so please feel free to receive this lightly 🙏🏼

I found Bradford Hatcher’s writing on 47 to be really helpful. It’s interesting because both 47.2 and 47.6 refer pretty heavily to the man’s perspective and attitude. In line 2 he’s surrounded by abundance but can’t really bothered to work up an appetite for it all and in line 6 he’s trapped by past regrets and future projections to some degree. Now, it could be that all of this refers to your environment being genuinely oppressive, but I also wonder if it’s saying that something about your perspective and what’s become the norm in your perception is also part of what’s blocking you. Beyond comforts or food and drink, or time spent caught in worries of old ghosts or potential problems, if there’s room to reorient yourself. I also think this because where you ask about change and received 45.6, it speaks of emotional release, of letting out all your feelings of disappointment and distress, really to no specific end other than to feel what you need to feel, and also maybe get more honest in your process. So, again, something internal clearing the way for something external to change.

the last one of 33 unchanging I’m not going to interpret because I don’t really understand unchanging hexagrams yet. I’m also not 100% sure you are supposed to immediately move on, even though these readings do on the surface come across as not the most hopeful, because we may not know yet what your own humility, emotional process, and mindset evolution will bring about. Those might be essential pieces whether you stay or go.

Do you have any thoughts on what the banquet before you might represent? Or the creepers trailing you? I wonder if that would also shed some light.

Thank you for your time to share this.
I find the part about perception blocking me very true and the part of emotional release to no specific end other than to feel what i need to feel. I had trouble understanding your last questions about the banquet and the creepers trailing me, since I'm new to this and English's not my first language, if you're willing to explain it.

Yes, of course! Apologies for not being more specific.

In hexagram 47, Bradford Hatcher’s translation of Line 2 (47.2) is:

“Oppressed before wine and food
Scarlet-sashed nobles arrive with direction Worthwhile and productive to offer up a sacrifice Initiative seems foreboding
But this avoids mistakes”

So I wondered maybe what the “food and wine” is, the abundance that either you have and keeps you comfortable, or is on offer to you but you don’t take.

in line 6 of the same hexagram:
“Oppressed by creepers and vines
Proceeding unsteadily and awkwardly
Uttering “movement is regret”
To own the regrets and go boldly forward is promising”

It says you are oppressed by “creepers” and “vines”. So I wondered what the regrets, issues, or even perhaps outside circumstances (people, etc) might be that feel oppressive to you. How can you move forward in spite of that. How you can you make peace with shadows and ghosts so you aren’t totally restricted in your movements.

Some observations to add:

Regarding #1 and #2, stagnation describes the environment from where the question arises. It's not the outcome, but the place you're arising from.

More interesting are your changing hexes and lines. Going from Oppression to Gathering seems promising, what do the moving lines say?

Focus on them. They show where the energy is moving.

Going from Gathering to Retreat suggests something about direction, returning to your sources of strength, recovery, and comfort.

I also saw this about 47.2:

Wing: An Adversity facing you now comes about from boredom. Indulgences and pleasures may come too easily for you. Try giving yourself to a worthwhile cause. There is redemption in such altruistic actions.

DeKorne talks about sacrifice for this one. It made me think of sacrificing something easy for another thing that actually gets you excited. Take a risk. Have gratitude. Make offerings toward what you most want! That interesting paradox of sacrifice leading to feeling more fulfilled in the end.

I'm using Richard Wilhelm's book. I'm sure that I've read the transformed hexagram, in this situation Hexagram 12 Stagnation, means the future situation.
Focus on these lines and the hexagram 33?
Oppression line 6
He feels tightly bound by no more than a few vines of ivy.
If he firmly resolves to break free, he will find he was held back by only his own guilt and fear.
Oppression line2
Chained to the banquet table, a prisoner of his own rich tastes.
He offers prayer and sacrifice for delivery from desire.
When even the desire to be delivered has been cleansed, his prayers will have been answered.

Gathering line 6
A gathering of mourners.
No one is to blame.
