Trigrams (not something I'm good at talking about):
|:|:|: |:||::
63...........55

Both have li (clarity, awareness) inside, both need that. 63 is awareness of danger and chasms, slipping back into the water. 55 has thunder outside - awareness of signs and messages, with big action.

(Somehow I've managed to turn Hilary's comparison of 55 and 56 into a 55-63 segue. 🤪 Sorry...)

You know segues (and non-segues) are what this place is made of.

I like 'translates into' for inner => outer trigram. In 55, inner vision and insight translate into swift action, something decisive, initiative, getting-things-moving... all those thundery things. In 63, the inner vision and insight translate into kan-type action, so something flowing, continuous, finding its way, finding its level, navigating dangers, etc.

Bognor Regis is UK town blessed with a veritable cornucopia of seaside delights.

Thanks. B&B I know, and it's a term we use here in the US as well - and there's also AirBnB. Bognor Regis was unknown to me, until now.

It's funny, I think I can recognize this as a reaction, without necessarily thinking it's what 55's about. The thing people sometimes do of thinking that arriving somewhere is the culmination when it's really not. What would be examples, I don't know, getting accepted to college? Making the team? Convincing your amour to marry you? Peak moments, but then you have to do the thing (get decent grades, stay in shape, take care of your marriage, whatever).
It's crucial to remember that Abundance has a shelf life too. Think of the wealthy people who whooped it up on that maiden voyage of the Titanic.
Maybe I'm confusing 55 with 63, or maybe there actually are some similarities but I'm confusing them. Maybe they're both about a transition. 63 crosses a river, 55 sets out to conquer, transfer power, begin a new dynasty, etc. 55's about receiving a mandate to do something, a la conquer the Shang. 63 doesn't mention a mandate per se, but as Hilary puts it, it's about keeping beginner's mind. Not arriving somewhere and thinking you're done when you're not.

(My second-guessing-of-self demon has spotted an opening now. )
The difference between 55 (Abundance) and 63 (Already Fulfilled) is bound up in the lines 4 and 5 it seems.
55 - Look at all we've got lined up in front of us. How do we keep that going?
63 - Look at all we've got lined up in front of us. But there's more than this?

55 Unaware of the hidden dangers we wish to hang on to and enjoy all that we've got. Not recognising all good things come to an end. 63 appreciating what we have and recognising that there is more that we will have to embrace.

55 > 63
- line 4 (active to passive): Screened from the light and meet your Hidden lord in the dark
- line 5 (passive to active): It's not here yet but a thing of beauty is coming

We do not see in the beginning that 55 has a dark side, but it has and that eventually we will see the silver lining

63 > 55
- line 4 (passive to active): It's comfy here but recognising that you cannot rest on your laurels. More work to do.
- line 5 (active to passive): Accepting the blessing of all that is going on. Accepting the experience of change too.

You think you're done? There's more to come and this is really going to fill your boots.

More fodder for your second guessing demon.

Take Care

I meant to add the origins of the name in my previous post.

Regis - frequented by King George V and so 'of royal consent'
Bognor - ancient name meaning ' landing place'

So a place where the King arrives it seems. ;)
