Having engaged on a study of 'Human Design', I see that time/place of birth is converted via conventional astrological ephemeris to the (Early Heaven) circular sequence of hexagrams, fixed onto the yearly cycle of solar time. The hexagrams occupy 5.625 degrees of arc each (360/64) and the placement of astrological planets (albeit with different meanings attributed) occupies individual hexagram lines.

So, according to HD, my "personality" Sun occupies hexagram 36 line 3 for example. This derives from the wheel of the year, commencing with the Spring ingress, starting at hexagram 25, summer solstice 15, autumn equinox 46 and winter solstice 10. The "Cross-Quarter" days are, therefore, 13, 2, 7 & 1.

This fixed calibration of the hexagrams to the solar year is invariable. Does anyone have any comments on such a calibration, corroborative or otherwise?

There are diferent techniques. Remember: in ancient times in China there were more than 1 calendar; and many of the chinese tools for astrology were based on lunar calendar rather than solar calendar.

Best wishes

Thanks, Jesed. Yes, one of the difficulties in accepting the absolute fixing of the 64 hexagrams to the solar year is that the lunar calendar is so much more fluid. However, there seems no possibility of challenging the Human Design view since this was "revealed" and channelled to Alan Krakower, now known as Ra Uru Hu after his mind-blowing experience. I just wondered whether anyone in the ICC had seen that particular configuration.

Apparently not.

Not that I have the time or the will to do it, but, how is it possible that a view, any view, cannot be challenged, let alone because the reason is that it was "channeled" to an individual? Well, kudos to the HD crowd for finding a way to incorporate Yijing symbolism and ancient concepts to their own concepts but from there to claim ineffability of the system is a long stretch. Actually, I'm more inclined to opine that anything that incorporates the Yijing into their own system is bound to work more or less well in hybrid form but the balance of merit is heavier on the Yijing side than on the novelty of the new system. Alas, a number of old religions and esoteric cults have used the Yi as a stirrup for millennia, so nothing new in that front.

Thank you, Sparhawk. Yes, precisely so - the incorporation of the hexagrams in the sense of both the calibration of the "wheel" to the zodiacal 'round' and then the placement (seemingly arbitrary) of those hexagrams into the virtual energy body (mainly the Indian chakra system + 2, so we are now apparently 9-centred beings, is a "given" in the HD system.

Being mentally driven as I am, I shall probably have to challenge this so I'll let you know how that goes down with the HD 'crowd'.
