Hello again.

I asked the I Ching about my (agitated) career:

What will be the development of my career by the end of this year? (I hope you understand the question, because my english is not yet very good.) The context: I am trying to find a new, better job.

The answer was: 50.4.6 > 46 . I see the answer this way:

Hex. 50:

Line 4: it's my situation now. An employer (=boss) that I don't like, because what he presented to me during the interview was completely false, the reality about the company and the job is completely different. (I am employed as a project manager, but I do the tasks of a secretary.)

Line 6: my efforts to change my job (with a better one) will pay off.

Hex. 46:
Maybe I really have chances to find a better job, by the end of the year...

Is this interpretation correct, in your opinion?

Thank you.

Obviously you have some handicaps that I preventing you from getting that new job at the moment, inadequate command of English could be one problem and are you qualified for the job that you are after?
Line 50.6 says to remain determined, keep searching and don't give up and you will get what you want.

Hex 46 indicates that sometime towards the end of December you will get lucky in your search.

I don't think so, because I don't live in an anglophone country.
But I'll try to think about what you said; hopefully I'll realize what/where is the problem.

Thank you, Willowfox.

Okay, I thought you lived in England, but something is currently holding you back and you will discover what it is soon enough because your answer does indicate that you will find what you are looking for.

Thank you, willofox. I know I have a problem, but the main problem is that don't realize what is that problem :) . I hope I'll find it soon, as you said.

Hello anca,

As you said, 50:4 is speaking about your current situation. The position is not as
it should be, it's 'broken'. However, there is a strong warning here for you, that
you need to be very careful, because if the position you're in continues in this
state and manner, it will turn against you. The goal is 50:6 - you are strongly
advised to 'fix' the position you're in now, ie go from a state of a broken Ting
(50:4, where misfortune and humiliation threaten), to a state where the Ting is
great and respected (50:6), and from that position everything will be advantageous.
And 46 of course is very positive.

It makes a lot of sense to me. If you leave now, without having given your position
now your best shot, you never know what reference you'll get for your next one. Also,
think of your CV. The logical thing to do, in my opinion, would be to talk with your
boss, tell him you're happy to help out with other duties as well, but you would like
to know when your 'real' position is going to start, and when you are going to start
a project, or something like that. Do your best to progress where you are now, so
that it won't be a 'dark spot' on your CV. It sounds like it's going to be hard work,
but it will be very worth it (50:6), and 46 tells you not to give up. You never know,
you might even manage to turn your current position into a good one!

Thank you, diamanda, for your insight.

I am also inclined to believe that 50.4 has something to do with my current situation, but after that I don't share your intepretation. It's hard to explain why, and I should enter in a lot of details. I mean, I already know that the current situation cannot improve (it didn't improve in 1 year), and I am sure that at this point the best move for my career is to go on and find a new job (but paying more attention when I accept an offer). As I said, it's hard to explain why I am sure about it, but belive me it's not some kind of "caprice" - if this is the right word in English.
