Hexagram 52 then shows line 2 >18
"Where is my career pointing me towards?"
For the past 2 years I have lived in the same place, worked at the same place...
I feel I need a change, I am unhappy here and feel unchallenged.
I know it's not the right time yet tho, but while I am waiting I have been thinking about the best course for my development.. what do I want to go to school for, what do I want to learn. I have always liked art and always wanted to be an artist of some sort creating. But over the past few years have not really created. My confidence is down and am not so sure how well i'd do going to school for design studies.
Nearing my last months here I have begun to wonder more and more what I should do.. but I just don't know what!!

Although 52 is all about stillness and even meditation, the second line indicates that you are exhausting yourself in your work. The problem is that the 52 is not good for getting new employment and you have to wait, serenely like a mountain if you can. Moreover, 18 is not helpful at all for getting new work. So, alas, you are forced into a rotting situation where you simply have to wait it until your fortune changes for the better.

Where is my career pointing me towards?
52.2 >18

Bradford on 52.2:

Stilling those legs
Not helpful in one's pursuits
One's heart is not gratified

Isn't your problem that you have been too still which has led to the decay of your abilities? You can show people what you can do now. Assemble a portfolio of your art work. Take a community college art class. Draw portraits of your friends. Don't let your abilities waste any longer. Does your current employer need art work?

hi megan!

I was curious about your take on these two interpretations to your reading, especially now that it is one year later. They appear to me as very different. One is be patient and wait it out, the other is get going on what you really want to make happen and don't waste any more time.

Would you share which you felt fit your situation better.

I had the identical cast with identical issues, and wanted to get your feel for it. Whichever it is, I hope this finds you in a place of greater clarity.

Thanks in advance and best wishes :bows:

I would have to say that Pocossin was most accurate with this one, it was due to my stillness for so long that caused the decay. A few weeks later I went out got a sketch pad and pencils and started drawing, i also joined an art class when I moved over here. I think it was an indication to"work on what has been spoilt".

Thanks Megan...yes,that makes sense...I think the same is true for me (e.g., get off your keister, woman, and do what you need to do to make your dreams come true ).

As I indicated, I have a very similar situation to yours... spooky... I was an artist by family and friends through college, and would have gone to art school if I had had the courage to take on the loans myself, instead of settling for what my dad would subsidize. I have been drawing now on a steady basis for about several months and shaping my work into a portfolio, but for me, it is more about networking with those who do the type of art that I am looking to pursue (textiles ) to figure out how to best arrange and market my stuff.

It was so coincidental (or perhaps not ;)) to see someone with an identical cast while I was researching the meaning of my same question, right down to the ennui and potential new career direction

Thanks again taking the time to respond!

Ohh very nice. Well maybe look into workshops and stuff in your area. Attend sewing classes and learn fabric and materials :)

maybe that would be interesting to explore....but what i do now is to design what goes on the fabric, wallpaper, etc......flowers, birds, leaves, branches interwoven on paper.

I do so love the spring time...I feel like I am just about to burst with all the colors and patterns that are everywhere around.

Thanks again for your encouragement Megan:bows: I hope you are feeling inspired too!

Yes and what better way to really know what you're doing then learning about the fabric yourself... really explore your options with this.
And yes I actually am, i've been itching to bust out my sketchpad but I have way too much school work! Spring is on it's way though and I love it!
