Carol anthony's 57 and 18

Just cast 57 uc and looked up carol anthony's text and and she writes that 57 often shows up with 18 as it synmbolises a time to follow the sage to get back on path... Paraphrasing badly but wanted to see if anyone actually found this to be true, just thougt it was quite the claim and looking through my journal i have never once gotten 57 with 18 (but... i could have a long time ago as i have lost my first yi diary)

And that highlights the particular problem around one author writing an interpretation of the book of changes, no matter how broad mind and objective they try to be they are still completely subjective. Drawing not only from their life experiences that they questioned yi about but on their own experience of casting itself. And even those authors who draw from work with clients still come from a singular viewpoint, although still a broader one if they incorporated what their clients have to say ( i believe hilary does this, so well done hilary!)

57 and 18, are they constant companions for more than just carol anthony?:bows:

This is where 3 days before and 3 days after shows up twice, in 18's Gua Text and 57's line 5. Both to me are saying that change is strongly needed (maybe wanted) and to do so it would be like altering the shape of metal, very hard, lots of slow adapting steps, changing temperatures. Planning ahead ('days before') and considering the outcome ('days after') are the way to slowly adapt over time and chip away at the change. I got this combo when asking about my sleep patterns and how to healthfully go about changing them. It hasn't been happening over night, but I asked for some help and the advice was to make charts and note changes.

Yes interesting. I mean theoretically they do go together quite well and as you point out have the same time metaphor linking them. I just have never seen them together in my own readings, and so wondered if it was actually true that 57 often shows up alongside 18. I know whne my house gets really messy i have to approach cleaning it gently, bit by bit and intuitively too, lists just dont work when its really bad,

It would be hard to say how often. There is a strong thread of connection with only one line changing from one to the other. The thread has to do with improving cycles. Not for the one time mess but to eventually learn enough to stop the mess from coming back.

I guess that the way I Ching applies to You will only be to You and no other. It's said before that the basic and very concise handed down I Ching [ZhouYi] text is the closest we can come to the oracel itself; here and there I have read authors recommending not to letting oneself be confused by explanations on the text. Each translator has their point of insight and if we could take all of these authors and mingle their explanations toghether into an essence maybe clarity would arrive.... ??? But: Ouhhhh god, what a work to be involved into.
