I was quite struck by Hilary's blog post about sacrifices and offerings. Overwhelmed in fact, with thoughts that Yi has been around for thousands of years, being consulted by strikingly different cultures. There was a time when only initiated diviners, allowed only to consult for kings and emperors talked with Yi. Consultations about battles and grand matters of state. And here we are now asking apparently trivial questions... 'Which washing machine would be best to buy?' 'Which kitten will suit me best?' 'How will my dinner be if I eat at this restaurant tonight?'

So my question to Yi was not very specific... but along the lines of That's a huge difference in the sorts of questions asked and the sorts of people who ask them... how do you manage the change and be available to such a different lot of people?

Answer: 49.4 > 55
Hilary:
Regrets vanish, there is truth and confidence.
Changing mandate, good fortune.

Commentary: You are ready; the revolution is already underway. You cannot regret the past when you inhabit the present moment, trusting the unfolding changes, and trusting yourself. This is the time when spiritual authority is taken from the old ruler and given to the new. So your guiding principles change, and with them your sense of what you are to do. The new will be better than the old.

Each of the changes are thematic within an archetypal setting. Therefore can be interpreted uniquely within the context behind the question by the querent. All Yi really does is the easy work, which is to show you the patterns holding court and it's then up to you to do the hard work; figure out how to assemble the jigsaw.

49 can be seen as representing the ego's personal revolution against its own conditioning: the shedding of the false self. Line 4 points in the direction of informed decision making and finding the right road - not the habitual road - such that a new strand of integrity is unfurled.
