Checkboxes in Chromium-based browsers (grrrrr)

If anyone besides me wants to impale whoever at Google decided to replace the internet's perfectly lovely checkboxes (not normally blurry, of course):

- there is a way to fix it. (Thank you, Reddit.)

  1. Type chrome://flags in your browser's address bar.

  2. There will be a search box at the top:

    You'll also see something like this:

    Ignore it this time. (It makes a good point in general, though.)

  3. Type form-controls-refresh in the search box.

  4. You'll see this:

  5. Use the dropdown to disable it.

  6. Restart your browser.

(later: however there are rumors this fix will stop working in Chrome version 84, unless they can be convinced to change their minds... )


(I don't know how to get rid of the yellow highlighting it's also started doing. Might not even mind that if it was less %&*# garish.)
