I'm going to some some sugery done and trying to choose a surgeon.

I asked for each doc I am considering

outcome of procedure done by A

11.1 to 46

outcome of procedure done by B

33.4 to 53

outcome of procedure done by C

26.2.3 to 27

outcome of procedure done by D

34.2.5.to 49

I'm thinking A looks the best

It depends upon what the procedure is actually for, as A does indeed look good but so does D, D's procedure could be very life changing as he can remove those stubborn little problems very successfully.

If it is for the removal or making some significant alteration, then I would chose D.

I sounds like this surgery is pretty important to you.
It's important that you recognise that this is your choice to make.
The doctor that WF would chose may not be the one that you should choose. It's important to remember to do your homework on all of them. By all means take advice as you have done through the Yi. However, as you are going to have to live with the outcome of the surgery be sure that you choose the doctor that you are most drawn to.

Thanks everyone. You are right it is my choice. I found it interesting that the yi had a negative response to going with the same surgeon I had before whom I had a great result with.

Asking the I Ching to recommend a cosmetic surgeon could be like asking a vegetarian to recommend a steakhouse.

Not really, as the IC does clarify who is the inferior man and who is the superior man.

When the I Ching is silent, xiaoren interpret empty echoes, deluding themselves that the oracle has spoken to them.

Are you sure you aren't letting your personal views about cosmetic surgery in rather anything the IC would say about it?

But if you use the I Ching to draw lots between four options it is usually best to begin that enquiry by seeking an oracle to discover whether the general direction is recommended in the first place. That is all. If the general direction is not recommended, the lots are forced and potentially misguiding.

Many times the I Ching simply does not speak. But an answer is always forced from it.

Interesting. I've seen that approach mentioned very few times in this forum and by one or two people, other than you now. Since I don't do public interpretations as a matter of very personal principle, I've never mentioned it. Am afraid though that a structured approach to questioning the Yijing isn't a preferred staple of consumption here.

I wouldn't say such a structured approach is called for in every case. I am not here referring to Shaughnessy's two-stage methodology, by the way.

Me neither...

We still have free will. People don't usually ask whether or not they should take a vacation or not or get a job or not or if the should get gall bladder surgery or not.

The decision has already been made to take a vacation to x or y place and so people may ask about different hotels or what not.

Ok I did ask if I should get the surgery and got 58 unchanging.

Then I asked about a local surgeon I already had a consult with and got

7.2 to 2

It sounds like I would be happy with him too.

Decisions decisions!
