Hi everyone,
in times when the world struggles with unemployment here I am torn between two offers, not knowing what to do.

I've been working with one firm for over three years now (let's call it JOB 1).
I love the job (although it's really stressful), I have good relationship with my colleagues and associates, it is dynamic and exciting, I've achieved some great and publicly recognized successes BUT - it is badly paid and unappreciated by the firm owners. I have been negotiating the salary for a long time but they've been taking me for granted, counting on the fact that I like the job.
However, suddenly they're offering an increase of 100% if I decide to stay on the same kind of contract (which implies loads of work, monthly payments but no job security in some traditional way).

On the other hand, I have been recently offered another job (JOB 2).
It's under the auspices of the government which means that there's much more security, BUT - I perceive it as tedious, repetitive and something I don't know much about. It's a typical office 9-5 job. They offer the same salary as the first firm does now. If I accept that, I can still do the first job but they cannot have my time and energy on disposal as much as they do now. In that case my contract with them would become slightly more loose, they wouldn't pay me by month but by the project and a bit more than what they offer now.

So, I asked IC:
what am I to expect if I accept the new offer of JOB 1 and refuse the JOB 2? Got 10.1.2 to 12
what am I to expect if I accept the offer of JOB 2 but stay on the project-based contract with the first firm? 19.3 to 11

What do you say?
Which one seems more acceptable?
Or should I search for a JOB 3? ;)

Thanks a lot in advance!

Seems a win- win situation what ever you decide. However I feel that if you stay at job 1 and remain in the background in a solitary way as regards your employers, not putting demands on them you will be fortunate. Job 2 seems to suggest a future problem that you put right, perhaps, as you have job security, you may not put the required effort that job 2 requires, but is essential in job 1 because you have no job security in job 1. However any future problems you have are not major. If you take job 2 -maybe this will eventually cause a conflict with job 1 employers ,as there could be a conflict of interests. either way, you will not lose out, but another path opens up which one do you take!

Thank you for the reply, stuart.

I don't know where exactly do you see that I might not put enough effort in the job number 2 but that definitely can happen, not so much because there's the security factor but because I don't find it stimulating enough...

Now, after three weeks of working at both places (yes, they both let me decide, I should really feel flattered instead of feeling totally under stress...) I feel I am close to accepting the more difficult option (taking job 2 for the security and keeping the job 1 on project-based contract because I love it) and feeling guilty about it.

Furthermore, having given it some more time, I have asked another question:
what does the future for me hold at job 1? And got hexagram 43.2 to 49
and what does the future hold for me at job 2? and got 46.1.4 to 34

Which both seem like ok answers (i.e. not too worrying) which puts me deeper into the dilemma...
