Hi Everyone,

I decided to set aside my more emotionally charged questions for the Yi for a bit. I kept getting, wait...not time...stilling...etc. :brickwall:

Anyway...In the hopes of distracting myself from my unsatisfying existence at the moment and finding something fun and new, I asked the Yi "What hobby should I take up?" I received 54.3 to 34.

I think that 54 (The Marrying Maiden) might be telling me to look for something that will come in second place...Okay that's fine, I was only looking for a hobby.

54.3 talks about being a slave (seems like my work right now) but waiting for the right time and marrying as a concubine (again with the stupid waiting :hissy:)

The resulting hexagram was 34 The Power of the Great. Yeah...I'm totally lost on this one. LiSe's site mentions something about one of the characters meaning stylus. Does this mean I should do some more writing or drawing (something like that)?

Any input would be appreciated. Also, since I'm not emotionally invested in this question, there's no need to be careful or kind with your interpretations....just go for it.

Thanks!

that line , sometimes reminds me of Alice's question , which path to follow. If your goal is to really get the satisfaction you need then maybe pause a bit to get a feel of what you really like; 34 is a bit in rush, imo.

I have seen so many people choose a hobby and then it backfires because instead of getting any pleasure they feel more empty as they do something its not fulfilling.

just a thought ...

54 as a hobby makes sense. Satisfying hobbies require patience, passion, power and motivation, even if it's knitting. It becomes your baby. Those change over time.

Thanks for the responses!

Anemos..I'm always in a rush (and I can be terribly impatient), so I'll take your advice to heart. Although I doubt I'd do that with a hobby. I was just looking for something to amuse me while I try not to think about my horrid career or nonexistent love life.

Sooo...Yes 54 does seem quite fitting for a hobby. Thanks for the response.

Does anyone have suggestions...Something like "When I got this reading I immediately went out and started rock climbing or underwater basket weaving or whatever and it's been great"...I'm guessing probably not, but feel free to chime in with any random thoughts or comments.

Well, when I received h16, I ran out and started a rock band. That became more of a marriage of the 54/second wife kind because 48 years later, it's still a favorite activity and relationship.

But you can't force these things, which may be part of your 34's message. Inspiration comes by waiting, expecting and nourishing. Like I've said, it's your baby. It happens to you because you're open to receive it, and quickly act on it!

Wow! Great suggestions. Now I'm making plans for my next days off...bowling and a band.

Anemos - Excellent suggestion. I haven't been bowling in years (many, many years). It was always a fun time, even though I was horrible at it. Your suggestion also made me think of the friend I used to go bowling with (sadly, he died a while back), but your post made me think of him and smile. Thanks.

Sooo - I think I'll start by seeing a band or two first. Wasn't there a Bob Seger song "Rock and Roll Never Forgets" that goes something like..."check the local newspapers, chances are you won't have to go to far...." Thanks and ROCK ON!
