I see a kinship of structure and meaning between these pairs of hexagrams:

52 and 20

29 and 62

51 and 19

57 and 33

30 and 61

58 and 34

63 and 11

64 and 12

The trigrams (or bigrams) of the ones on the left are analogues of the hexagram structure of the ones on the right. I think they have parallel meanings as well, elements that match.

This must have been commented on in the Chinese past, but I've never noticed it before. Whatcha think?

I think you'll be totally unsurprised to learn that Brad talks about 1, 2, 19, 20, 33, 34, 61 and 62 in his book ;) . He says they're called Great Trigrams; they certainly make sense as a kind of magnified picture of the trigram. I don't see what you're getting at with 63 and 64, though...

Dobro, used bigrams for those. In 63, the bigram 10 (leftmost digit being bottom of bigram). In 63, it repeats three times, stacked. 11 is a bigger representation of that bigram. Same with 64 and 12, in reverse.

hex structure yields hexagram meaning...

Wilhelm, in the comments before the judgment for hex 63 and 64 notes that they are interim forms between hex 11 and hex 12.

In general, it is more a matter of what context one selects as to which hexagrams and trigrams stand out from that context as related or connected. Line pairs or bigrams highlight sets with all the same line pairs such as hex 11/12 or 63/64. If you look in terms of Yang lines in open Yin spaces then 52/20 and 51/19 stand out and the like.

It is another step forward to move on to note that meaning is conveyed by the sequence of line places and the potential between full Yang lines and open Yin spaces in each and every hexagram.

But all things in their own sweet time for each of us. :)

another connection is the one between

52 and 20 and 22

29 and 62 and 17

51 and 19 and 48

57 and 33 and 21

30 and 61 and 18

58 and 34 and 47

63 and 11 and 64

64 and 12 and 63

with the third row there is a jump from trigram to trigram, using duogram as a basis. These are all quantum jumps. For instance 48 is a jump from trigram fire to trigram fire.
Beautifull technique I think, when I get one of these hexagrams in a reading I always see a jump in perspective. Like the onion ring. The same energy but a deeper perspective.
