hi
i need help inteerpreting this reading, although i have an idea of what it means.
i have a load of unanswered questions that are bothering me. i want to move on and all these things are lingering and pulling me in a way.

i can try to see the guy and ask him directly to tell me what happened so i can move on. but the idea makes me a bit anxious (probably it is too early for that...).

i asked the Yi:
what are the consequences of contacting A now, asking for an explanation?

and the answer was 24.1 > 2
my interpretation is: don't do it. retreat into yourself, close the gates. life is cyclic and you will go out again. but now it is the time to return to yourself and let all else be.
in a context of receptivity, which means, letting things happen, letting things flow.

does it make sense?? other ways of reading this?

thank you so much for any help you can give me.

Perhaps it will help to consider something written about 24.1 in Wikiwing:

Does getting this line mean that the proposed action is a recovery, a return to what is good? Or does it mean the opposite, an instruction to turn back before you've gone too far in the wrong direction? If you cannot understand what it means, the question can be settled by asking the Yi a second, clarifying question.

I ask about the consequences of an action. The related hexagram e one of passivity, right? Shouldn't this mean no action?

24.1 is generally about returning from a bad idea...so whats the bad idea here ?

If it's about seeing an ex who doesn't want to talk to you then its telling you not to bother. Those kinds of conversations never bring closure anyway

You are probably right, trojan...
You are always so sensible!
But why don't they bring closure, these conversations?
(I don't know if he doesn't want to talk to me. Since I started with the I Ching I never contacted him again. Apparently he doesn't need a closure... Maybe he is one of those guys who likes to go on with unfinished business. Once I asked "who is A?" And it came out 64 unchanging!!!)
I mean, i don't know what the hell happened. All was fine and suddently he disappears.
I am entitled to an explanation, no?
Ok, i'll do nothing, i promise, we are just talking.

well what do I know it's up to you...all I know is 24.1 suggests a return from a bad idea. If it seems a good idea to you to talk to him then go ahead. As suggested by calling crane it can be hard to know how to take 24.1....talking to him might be the return, yet somehow I really doubt it

Well, i interpreted it just like you.
I posted this just to be sure. Because I don't know that much about the Yi yet...
Return from a bad idea seems a very good way of seing it.

i am very resistant to ask th Yi again, as suggested by caaling crane.
i think that i should meditate on an answer for quite a time before asking th Yi to be more clear because i always think it is me not being able to see clearly, not the Yi being unclear.
do you see what I mean?
do you, seniors of the Yi, agree?

You seem quite clear about the proper understanding of the answer, deusa. I have to agree with both you and Trojan. Return from a bad idea and close the gaits.

Well, after 2 months I decided it was time to close this thing.
I sent an sms message saying I didn't want to see him but I wanted my things back.
He never talked or wrote to me, but he did bring me everything, in 2 turns, very promptly.
Felling he was there, answering my request so fast, but had not the guts and the education to write me, not even to tell me "i dropped your things at your door" did it. It was as if something broke finally, a tiny line thatbwas still there and that I had difficulties in breaking.
I thank the Yi and all of you who answered my threads.
