My take on this hexagram is to see Nourishment unchanging as meaning the crisis will continue to become even more severe with no sign of control. I say this because the hexagram is unchanging which suggests current conditions do not change. Perhaps because people not have the vaccines to Nourish their health?

Burning corpses is what they do in India. Your statement makes me wonder, do they teach about other cultures in college these days? What you say here sounds like: "they are holding Viking funerals outdoors, on ships".

"How severe' seems extremely subjective to me - will it get 'very severe' or 'only slightly severe' or .... But regardless ....

Rutt calls 27 'Molars', and the hexagram statement reads: Observe the molars. Read the state of the jaws for yourself. And this is considered good, or auspicious.

As with most questions about COVID - or politics or the US elections- this can be interpreted in all kinds of ways; for example:

27 means: the government and scientists and doctors are still observing and 'reading the state' of affairs - collecting information and doing research, and figuring out how to control a deadly virus in the second most populated country (and supposedly the largest democracy) in the world - and since this hasn't yet turned into action, things will get worse before they get better. OR ....​

27 means: here you have trigrams Thunder over Mountain, so the virus (thunder) will be stopped (mountain) - and brought under control.​

In this respect this is no different than all the (many) times people asked: who will win the US election, Trump or Biden? One camp of diviners thinks it's obvious that the Yi says Biden won (because he did win); the other camp thinks it's obvious the Yi says Trump won (because he did win, but had his win stolen from him!).

Me? For this reading I think the Yi is saying: read the news, pay attention to what's going on (observe, read, 'read the state'), and at some point India will turn their 'observing' into action, and COVID will be brought under control (thunder below, being held / stopped by mountain above) - but given the 'state' of our crisis (and of India) and the state of the world, things will likely get worse before they get better.

No, I think it is very severe. What I'm saying is that I'm not all that keen on Yi readings about COVID, or politics, etc. because how people interpret them is often far too subjective (and often are based on their already held biases and opinions) and I tried providing examples of that here.

And - of course letting myself get pulled into the fray - I also said but given the 'state' of our crisis (and of India's) and the state of the world, things will likely get worse before they get better - and this feels to me like the Yi's response (or part of it) to the question "How severe will the COVID crisis in India get before getting controlled?"
