I went on a lunch date yesterday. Prior to the date I'd asked Yi what the date would look like and received 22.1.3.6>2
As it happened we did a lot of driving and got out and walked seeing the beauty ofvthe area Line 1
There was attraction but not that OTT chemistry (Thank God) Line 3
And Line 6 - it was a plain and simple, easy time.

Today I've asked what do I need to know about the connection from here

I definitely feel neither of us is rushing into it. The Restraint maybe us we both having different life plans at the moment. Nothing that can't be worked around but I'm also not sure he's shared everything about his situation...nothing untoward I don't believe but I feel there's something he's holding back.

I'm aware he has work commitments with a company that's going into receivership. He doesn't work for them but is contracted through them as he's self employed - that's what came to mind when I saw this reading. Money doesn't appear to be an issue but he does have work commitments.

Actually can Hexagram 16 mean Sex. Line 4 he wants to do the Dance but Line 5 he may have issues in getting the steps happening to do the Dance....

Line 4 speaks from a place of choice and line 5 carries maturity and purpose. Throw all this into the melting pot along with Karcher's name for 16 ' Riding the Elephant' and Javary preferring 'Burning Oneself Out' and you can make a case for 16 to mean all sorts of things.

... or it might mean nothing at all like that for you.

I've come to see 8. Seeking Union as advice that a connection is intended for a specific purpose and will disconnect when the purpose has been completed. The last line of hexagram 7 describes many different kingdoms, and hexagram 9 is about a man going forward on his own. In between we have 8. Union. So the sequence seems to say there are 7. various independent entities, they 8. team up for mutual benefit and then when they no longer are of the same thinking (8.6) they 9. go their separate ways. So hexagram 8 seems to be cautioning "Know what your purpose in being together is."

So what do you need to know? 26 - 8 Restrain your self until you see what the purpose of this Union might be. A pleasant afternoon or a lasting friendship?
What do you need to know? 16.4.5 - 8 This Union may run hot (16.4) and cold (16.5). Like great when you are together but then you don't see each other for awhile but then you do. As for sex this could be describing a friendship with benefits but I could also see it as meaning if you restrain yourselves the energies could rise to the higher chakras an be something lasting even when you don't see each other every day. 16.4 Great enthusiasm that 16.5 doesn't die.

Perhaps, from line 5, that he is not 100% finished with someone else. He might be in the process of a very slow breakup, still not totally cut ties with his ex, still hanging on there.

Line 4 can convince anyone of anything, can lead a person on.

As you know I don't usually do this kind of question but this answer does strike me that he's quite a charmer or can convince you of his interest but he is still hanging on to a previous or ongoing relationship that doesn't die. I feel the 8 is the truth behind it all that if he doesn't choose whole heartedly the other person or you he will lose out.

Please take that with a pinch of salt as I have no idea if he has an ex hanging on though I guess it wouldn't be unusual. But I don't want to suggest he's being deceitful, that wouldn't be fair on him. It's just line 5 bought it to my mind that there could be a real slow epic going on behind the scenes.

You could also take the answer that this relationship is being 'talked up' in line 4 but it's not really coming to life in line 5. Like you do need more to bind you together perhaps than what is currently being shown. There seems to be a tug of war between the enthusiasm to get things going in line 4 and the real sense of dragging of feet in line 5. I have the feeling if you probed a little you'd find for him it's not fully finished with someone else. Maybe you could chat about past relationships a bit and see who he has hanging on.

Trojina I appreciate your feedback on this one definitely so thank you. The only relationship he spoke about was his ex-wife which sounds like it ended quite some time ago but as he made disparaging comments about her I'm guessing he's still holding an emotional attachment.

Thanks Rosada - it seems like it's going to be a hot and cold thing if I allow it to continue at all. It was definitely a pleasant afternoon but I didn't get the impression he was really that interested so I just thanked him, got out of the car not expecting to see him again really. To my surprise he got out of the car gave me a kiss on the lips and a hug and said he'd like to see me again. Half an hour later he also sent me a text message saying how much he enjoyed the afternoon. He sent a few texts about nothing much yesterday and suddenly the texts stopped half way through conversation.
He then sends a text today making some stupid excuse. I'm leaving it alone for now.

My intuitions telling me there's a substance abuse issue....mainly alcohol, not sure about pot as well. He knows that's not going to work for me. Not sure how it works in with these readings though.
