It seems to me I said something the teacher was not quite happy with. I had the feeling because he replied to a discussion group but didn't address it to me.
I asked the i ching what did the teacher mean with his comments, and got 53.2.3. to 59
What does the iching mean when it gives 2 contradicting readings like 53.2 and 53.3?
The first seems to say it's good, while the second, bad.

I asked, "is the teacher unhappy with me?" I got hexagram 61. Kinship.

I asked, what can i do to remedy the problem, if it exists?
hexagram 16.1 to 51.
Did what i say come across as arrogant?

Apparently I thought being honest would work, as it was a discussion group, but it seems not. :bag:

Thanks for any help.

I wonder if the problem really does exist. Remember as a student your attention is focused on the teacher, but s/he has a million things buzzing round in their head so it could well be what you thought was annoyance was merely preoccupation with managing the class, or maybe what you said triggered some other thoughts she wanted to share with the group ? IMO your answers support this view anyway. For 61 unchanging the counsel in the judgement is to hold fire in ordering execution (or something like that) - no need to make a decision about this now, next time you meet probably you will be able to reconnect or you'll be able to see the truth of the matter more.

i think 16.1 is saying theres no need for any corrective action on your part. 16.1 often indicates the impulse to draw attention to oneself, to make an issue out of something that won't prove especially useful, so I don't see it here as meaning you have been arrogant but that you'd be over stepping the mark to try to 'remedy' the problem as you put it.

53 to 59 is quite puzzling yes. Line 3 indicates something is neglected or abandoned. I wonder if its just that generally your progress with the teacher is good and you have a connection (53.2) but that on this occasion you were forgotten/ignored in some way - which is of course what you felt.

Oh, what you said makes it clearer now! Thank you.
I thought it was because I didn't address what the teacher said in class - I went off on my own tangent - was afraid that i went off mark and was trying to be the 'teacher'.
You have a good grasp of my question's intent, thanks once again :)

He doesn't appear to be unhappy with you at all as in his line of work he has to put up with fools all the time.

In a way you are right - he's a psychologist!
