I'm getting involved with someone from a different culture and honestly I have no idea if he's corresponding to my feelings, so I asked Yi Jing if he has feelings for me.
I got 17.6 > 25.
Line 6 describes loyalty, but I'm not sure if that indicates that he does have feelings for me.
Also, I interpreted 25 as detachment and the need to go with the flow without needing to worry about what comes next.
What do you guys think?

17.6 - 25 : in a context of change (25), 17.6 is an excellent line for a romantic relationship (in my opinion... :sneaky:). So I wonder why you doubt because normally, the love exchanges are already there ... well, I think ?!

Not really. We're still getting to know each other and I wasn't sure if he was into it as much as I am into him - as I said we're from different cultures. I'm naturally more affectionate and his people are way more reserved. I'll just go with the flow though.

Sorry skyline but this is not a good reading for love. 17 is a woman running after a man, and 25 means no sex (in relationship questions). The changing line says that someone follows only if tied up and dragged. No idea what that could mean here, but overall it does not show love or passion or anything like that.

I wonder how a line can generate such different translations  ?

- For example : Lise's translation is rather positive : « If you are one with what you want, you will get there. If your belief is strong enough – in it, in you – gods and kings will recognize you. »
- Wengu Tartarie - 17 is : "A man of a certain age bows to a young girl and shows him of consideration. In this way, he moves her so well that she follows him."
- Regarding the subject of love in 17 and 25 : yes, love also exists in these two hexagrams (Believe me ;))
- The question I ask myself about 17.6 : is there another underlying story...?

Hi Matali,
What you have quoted are comments made by the translators - they're not translations.

17.6 I find is where greater commitment is asked of one, one is further drawn into something and one is bound often by devotion. 25 is the relating hexagram, one gives up one's own agendas to follow like a disciple without a plan of one's own.

Does this mean he has feelings for you ? No idea. Never decide if someone has feelings for you via an I Ching cast instead hear what he says and watch what he does.

With no reading if this is someone from another culture that you haven't met then how will you ever know either what his feelings or your feelings are ?

If I take the answer as direct then you become more and more bound together. In this instance you have to be clear that what you follow is worthy of devotion because this is a line of devotion. If he is becoming devoted to you you'll know soon enough when plans for togetherness begin to form, more effort more engagement is needed and paradoxically this can mean giving up plans also.

As already said that is not a translation it is a commentary, her idea about what the line says that's all.

Hello Trojina et Diamanda,
Ok, the translation of Chinese 17.6 : comply; Bring people together se - The sovereign makes offerings...
The question I ask myself here : who is the offering ? As the nuclear hexagram is 53 : there is therefore a couple that forms... Isn't it?

I see 17.6-25 as describing a state of innocence where the person is not so much detached but more like Following another’s lead without a plan for where things are headed. Like when you go to sleep at night you don’t know what will happen next but you trust it’ll be okay.
