Does the I Ching know if I'm pregnant?

Hello all,

I'm planning to wait til Thurs to take an actual test, to minimize possibility of false negative, but am starting to get somewhat obsessed/distracted/carried away with knowing the answer. I'm very new to the I Ching, but do seasoned divinators think there would be any point in asking the I Ching "Am I pregnant?"

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Sceptical

Personally I’d take the test, and then ask the IChing. Then you’ll have a million questions to ask. Mind you, why don’t you put it to the test, that’s the only way to find out if you can believe in it’s predictive powers ! That’s one question I’ll never be able to ask, sincerly.

Regards

Steve

Hi Tsunami

Of course one can ask that question; and get a right answer.

The best method for that kind of question is mathematical; but you need to clarify if you want to be pregnant or if you don't want to be pregnant.

Of course, one can say that is better to wait and find out with the medical test.

Best wishes

Hi all, thanks for your replies.

Waiting isn't my strong suit ;)

I did ask the I Ching and I got 64, Before Completion, changing to 6, Conflict. I didn't know what that meant so I bought a test, figuring I could always take another on Thurs. They both came out positive last night though!

Jesed, what kind of mathematical question would I ask if I wanted to be pregnant?

Hi Tsunami

I didn't express myself well, I'm sorry.

There are 2 mayor ways to interpret an hexagram: looking at the text of Yi Jing (scholarship method) or not looking at the text of Yi Jing (mathematical method). This is just a simplification... within each one of those ways there are diferent methods and schools...

When I wrote "mathematical method" i was talking about one way to interpret the answer, not using the text, but the energetical measure of each line (using the "branches" and the "stems",and others tools).

The question is the same: am I pregnant?. What is diferent is the way to understand the answer.

I'm assuming that you made your question on June 19

If this assumption is correct, the mathematical interpretation of 64 >6 is:
a) You are in a very good season
b) The posibility of having a child is good in the season, altough with some dificuties in the short term
c) The active line (line 5) is under the aspect of Child. So, a child would be active (most probably in month Goat or Ox) according with your wish, and vanishing the worries.
d) You might have some worries of 2 kinds: about diiculties on being pregnant or about money. However, the line under the aspect of worries is hidden. That means, nothing to worrie about.

Next month Goat: august 2006
Next mont Ox: January 2006 (probably month of born? posibility that you could have already 2 to 4 weeks, aprox?)

Of course, if you didn't made the question on June 19, some aspects of the interpretation must be changed.

Wow, jesed, that's fascinating. Thanks for the lovely reading! Yes, I asked yesterday before I bought the tests.

I don't understand any of the reasoning you go into, but it's clearly a positive reading in a number of ways, which is reassuring! I searched the web for co-incidences of branch/stem/mathematical/"i ching" but didn't turn up anything intelligible. Do you know of a website where I can learn about this method of interpreting a reading?

Yes, I projected first week of February for the by-the-book due date as I think it's been about 3+ weeks or so, so a January delivery isn't unlikely. I know of the animals / zodiac correspondence with years, but not with months.. is that like the western zodiac or are you referring to a non-astrological correspondence?

Sorry to ask so many questions - you seem to know so much and I barely have an entry point into all of what you're offering me.

Thanks very much again for taking the time to help me out! :bows:

Hi tsunami

You can see the page of Joseph Yu, to learn about this way of interpretation
http://www.astro-fengshui.com/courses/yijing.html

A sample introduction in: http://www.astro-fengshui.com/iching/sample_lesson.html

You can also search the web with the key word "Xiang Shu Yi Xue"

Month Ox starts around 5-6 of January and goes to 5-6 of February. There are little changes in the exactly day of starting and ending from year to year. I'll check my calendaric table to give you the exactly days on 2007

Best wishes
