Have you observed readings where Yi seems to poke fun at you or itself, uses hyperbole, black humor, rolls its eyes at you, winks, that sort of thing?

I definitely feel like it's the case sometimes... sometimes in a string of readings that happen to be odd, it'll be like Yi is saying, with a smile, "gimme a break" or "come off it" or some such.

There are two ways to look at this question.
1) Do readings using divination techniques sometimes offer humorous advice, such as comical verbal responses that seem too related to your question to be coincidence, and
2) Is their humor embedded in the original Yijing, i.e., was humor on the minds of the Yi's authors, even if they buried it with plausible deniability in more serious sounding texts. I speak to this second view in an appendix to my books, but here is an isolated pdf version that I had printed in a festshrift for my old philosophy professor, who specializes in humor. https://www.hermetica.info/ZhouyiHumor.pdf

I wonder too, is humor in the eye of the beholder - that we sometimes find humor in the response we get from the Yi?

I think so, just like we might find - or feel - seriousness, or irony, or urgency, or a response where the problem also contains the solution, if we look at it in a new way.

All the best

Hilary talks about Yi's sense of humor quite often.

I had one just today. I asked Yi, "What should I know about xyz?" (xyz was something dumb I had done). Yi said 4 unchanging, Not Knowing. *chuckle*
