Doubt upon course of action

I've trouble regarding how to approach someone in terms to regain his confidence and love, the question I asked was: "What I'm doing wrong in my approach to "John"? The lecture I got was 6.3.4.5 to 57, in my point of view it's kind in the same terms as another reading I got, about changing, letting go of old ways, enjoying the journey rather being focus with the the destination. But I'm not sure how to read the transition how does it fit. Can anyone bring some clarity?

I think 6 with moving lines 3,4,5 changes to 18, not to 57?

Or am I missing something here?
