In the dream...

I receive in the mail a Josh Hamilton (professional baseball player) jersey, and it fits perfectly.

Then I am at bat in a pro game, big stadium, the works. I hit a line drive into the right-field corner and run 'round the bases. It seems as I round second base that I could probably score - come all the around for an inside-the-park homerun - but I stop at third base because as I approach it I look up at the huge stadium scoreboard and see that "we" are ahead by a score of 51-15.

(The dream continues and includes Josh Hamilton following my hit with another triple, and in a twist of dream dynamics, he and i are both at third base and I think to myself, in the dream, that it must seem odd to people to see two Josh Hamiltons - or Josh Hamilton jerseys, anyway - at the same spot on the field.

The next batter up hits a homerun and I await him and Hamilton at home plate where we exchange stylized "high-fives" and continue to the dugout. By the way, the batter who hit the homerun seems to me to be someone in particular - another (retired) baseball player - whom I google when I get to work and in so doing discover some information about him that adds a kind of connection to Mr. Hamilton, related to personal "issues" they have overcome...and/or likely still deal with.)

Sorry so long-winded.

At any rate, it takes me a day to connect the score (51-15) to, duh, hexagrams, though when I do - and before I look them up - there is that "a-ha!" sort of realization, like "well, of course that's what the score is about."

The SHOCK of 51 seems easy to connect to receiving the jersey (as well as the perfect fit), as well as then finding myself playing in a major league baseball game. And after some thought the nature of hex. 15 did seem to apply to stopping at third base when I could very likely have come all the way around for the homerun.

I awoke this morning thinking about your dream and the symmetry of 51-15.

I like your sense of the SHOCK leading to Humbling and stopping at third base. And I like Hilary's translation of 15 as "Integrity." So with 51, "Rolling thunder: ... a noble one sets things in order and is watchful." (Barrett) You roll around to third base and then watch. And with 15 "Integrity creates success. A noble one completes it." (Barrett). And so, looking at all parts of the dream as being you --- you get two triples and then complete it with a homerun. I am wondering what that pertains to in your life at present.

Five more ways of looking at it:

1. It takes three changing lines for Hexagram 51 to change to Hexagram 15. Thus; 51.1.3.4 > 15 Perhaps the texts of the changing lines are pertinent to your life situation at present. I certainly see the dream connection --- the SHOCK of the bat hitting the ball three times. And the final changing line, "Shock, and then a bog". (perhaps the "bog" being the return to the dugout.)

The nuclear hexagram is 39. And the "inner and outer" operators are 55 and 59. (inner Abundance and outer Dispersing.)

2. If the score is 51 and then three more players make it to home plate, the score becomes 54. Consider Karcher's translation of Hexagram 51 and 54, i.e., the Rouser and the Marrying Maiden.
What type of "scoring" are you dreaming about?

3. Perhaps this is going too far... but I looked at 5.1 and 1.5 as well. Using Hilary's book: 5.1: "Waiting at the outskirts altar. Fruitful to use perseverance - no mistake" and 1.5 "Dragon flying in heaven. Fruitful to see great people." (This seems relevant to the dream imagery as well...the stadium of people waiting, you waiting at third base, balls flying and runners flying and famous major league players...)

4. Consider the pairs: 51-52 and 15-16 and then with the new score of 54... 53-54.

5. I notice that you posted the Dream:Scoreboard on July 16 at 10:54. It takes one changing line to convert 10 to 54. (10.5>54). Perhaps it would be meaningful to look at the fifth changing lines of Hexagram 10 and Hexagram 54.

Any sense of what inning it is in the dream game?

The "high-fives" in your dream remind me of an image a friend of mine posted on facebook of a group of beer mugs held joyously up, clicking together in a toast. CHEERS!

I had a little "shock" this morning when I did my reading for the week. I asked, "What do I need to know about this week?" and I received 51 >15. I was writing the text for the changing lines in my journal and then I remembered hooo's dream:scoreboard post. In a dream class I took from imagery expert, Dr. Gerald Epstein, we would "read" each other's dreams by taking the dream as if it were are own. So, as I received 51-15, I thought there may be some value in doing this with hooo's dream and how it may relate to the coming week.

So, in my dream, I receive a Josh Hamilton jersey in the mail and it is a perfect fit. What this feels like to me is a moment in 2010 when I meet someone who feels like a "perfect fit". Josh's jersey number is 32. I sense that this person I met is someone with whom I could seek "Duration". So I make a temporary move closer to his "home" but don't take measures to make that sustainable.

Then in 2011 I receive the professional credentialing I need in order to obtain sustainable work near his "home" but don't go all the way with that. (The second "Josh" makes another triple..)

Now, this week, I am in the process of taking steps to make it all the way "home". I've sent a check for lodging and am completing applications for employment.

Another process for dream reading Epstein's students do is to ask the dream reporter questions. Hooo, all I know about you is what I've gleaned from reading your posts on this forum. Back in April you mentioned entering a screenplay competition. Perhaps it is your third screenplay --- and it will be a "homerun"? I also note that this is your third year on this forum. You started with questions about a "mystery blonde". I also note that this year you will be turning 51 in November. If your dream "mystery blonde" is an "anima" figure, perhaps this is the year for whole integration of her (15 - Integrity)? Two hearts becoming One?

callingcrane,

i am only now seeing your replies to my post. thank you very much. your feedback is generous of mind and spirit and i appreciate it.

(paul molitor, btw,)

and yes, the screenplay.

and some fairly over-the-top baseball-dreaming about it. pretty clear and increasingly "punny."

you've given me a good day of thought here - really good "food," actually - so i'm going to take a closer and longer look at what you've expressed.

and yes, too, indeed on the Integration.

thankyou, callingcrane. this morning has been like walking into a room to a wrapped gift on the table.

btw, i found MY "what do i need to know about this week?" response to be fitting as well, and even ties in a birthday angle of sorts, speaking of (50 changing to) 51.

2 (changing lines 1, 2, 3 strikes yerrout) to 11. (born on the 2nd day of the 11th month.)

"The mare is strong, tireless and incomparably fast, and she is acutely sensitive to the subtlest cues. When you have a mare’s constancy, you will be steadily loyal to the truth, and always alert and responsive to guidance.

The noble one has a direction to go: she is purposeful, she has a destination in mind, but this doesn’t mean she has her route to it already mapped out. And so at first there is confusion: you set out like a pioneer, open to all the possibilities, and find them as many as scattered rice-grains. But later, since you have set yourself in motion, you can receive guidance – you ‘gain a master’.

A master is someone who lights the way. You gain someone or something to be loyal to, where you can find fulfilment in service. Once you have this guiding principle (which may or may not be a person), you begin to follow signs as fluently as the mare."

- Hilary Barrett

And Flow indeed.

P.S. more thoughts on the jersey in the mail. i would, in the case of a Literary Endeavor (for example), receive notification in the mail, yes.

the "fitting" aspect. it's multi-level, of course. it fits. i can wear it. "i'm worthy." and what kind of player is josh hamilton. he's a home run hitter. (molitor, btw, it occurs as i write, is the guy that would be hitting the triples.) he's also got a substance issue. or had. but it doesn't go away, really. that's a different story, unless it fits. the jersey, that is. like dorothy's "click-em-three-times" pumps fit. (judy garland.) anyway, i can see it fitting in that way, too.

i recall the red collar for some reason. maybe the first thing i noticed about it. redNECK? but feeling more likely throat chakra-related. communication.

and your note re: "major league players" resonated quite strongly.

hmm.

hooo.

hooo,

Thank you for your reply and sharing more yesterday.

Breathtaking. I too feel like I've found a wrapped gift.

too winded to say more at present... except to note that in my first post to this thread I made an error. In order for 10 to change to 54 it takes two (not one) changing lines, i.e., 10.5.6 > 54. I must have been thinking about a previous question I had asked Yi in which the answer was 10.5. In any case, I love Hilary Barrett's translation and commentary on the sixth changing line of Hexagram 10.

And thank you for quoting from her book on Hexagram 2. Reading it in the context of this thread you have started is meaningful to me and is helping me to keep connected to what is becoming ever more clearly my "guiding principle". I feel blessed to have a guiding principle that makes accepting "Limitation" (hexagram 60) not only palatable, but delicious.

feeling "humbled" (H. 15) during the "shock" (H. 51) of connecting to "major league" players"
hence "gratitude"
