eczema and hexagram 22

I have recently developed eczema on my face. Most annoying. I've had it elsewhere and my experience is once you've had it somewhere it flares up there again. I asked the IChing - such vanity... - 'Is my facial eczema going to be a lifelong problem?' to receive Hexagram 22 unchanging.

I share this partly because this is an example of why I love the IChing. It's just so witty and apt. Now, this one might have been telling me that I'm being vain and superficial... but since it connects to surfaces, and the skin is the organ which covers our surface, it could also be telling me that this is a matter of deep surface, a matter of really caring for the surface.

With no changing lines, I find it paradoxical to read. It might be saying 'yes' or 'no' to my query, I guess, given its association with beauty and so forth. (Not that an eczema-free me is exactly Helen of Troy.) But it might also be asking me to look at the connections between the surface of my body and the way I am living my life.

I wondered if people had any thoughts. I love it when the Iching gives such a direct and yet almost mischievous answer.

Thank you! Gael

As a side note, my eczema is clearing with steady daily treatment with an anti-histamine and some moisturising cream.

according to this hex i think the answer is a no. It's not gonna bother you that much but it will bother you if it gets worse. Follow your meds prescription closely.

Thank you, Altair. Yes, that makes a lot of sense. I have found only persisting with my meds has got it to the point where it vanishes, and I have to just stick to this for as long as necessary. Thanks again for the clarification.
