well Trojan it is a surprisingly positive
response and I am used to the Yi reflecting
my inner most thoughts
line 5 is sayiny the water is pure - and that
is great
46 is also gear up and go for it
maybe the Yi is saying its all good I should
work with the current situation to advance
to better times.
i just do not know what 'the well' is I remember
getting the first line once saying the well is
contaminated noone can drink from it.
i took that to mean my personality was such
that noone could be bettered by i was not a
giving person. the concept of what the well
is escapes me
maybe i am being told that my skills have been
honed by the adversities and that i may be
able to render better service now in my field
- in other words stick with it, Your interpretations
show more depth of insight please comment

yes its a positive response, just the kind of maddening answer Yi likes to give when we see absolutely no financial improvement on the horizon whatsoever....
The Well is the inexhaustible source....it is never decreased. When we can't get water it isn't because theres no water its just because we can't access it. Maybe our rope is too short or our bucket has a hole.....so in terms of your question the answer seems to be that not only is money/sustenance there for you, you also have no trouble in accessing it, it is within your reach. Hilary says in her book to be confident here however dry and dusty your surface experience is.
The well is the source of what it is you ask about...everything that comes to you through living in society, in simply being alive is how i see it
If for example you ask about friendship the well is the source of friendship....the quality of friendship is always there but sometimes it cannot be reached
I underlined what you said about 48.1 meaning you were not giving becasue thats a particulary self blaming view of 48.1...so I imagine you got that from Wilhelm. Mostly 48.1 shows us trying to get water where these no good water....it doesn't have to mean we are ungiving...more like we are trying to draw on something that has no life left in it
I recommend you and anyone new to the I Ching buy Hilarys book to get a very clear idea about your answers. I think its really cheap now too on Amazon and will save you from struggling with Wilhelm so much.
Its good to have Wilhelm but he does go pretty heavily for the self blame angle which isn't always appropriate

Oh BTW yes if Yi is saying there is something for you to draw on, money can be/will be accessible, then that does seem imply you continue going on as you have been.

Thank you so much Trojan - my first experience of the IC was as a student and indeed
Wilhelm is entrenched in my thinking. I will most certainly get Hilarys' book as I have been
doing the free online here and am becoming attuned to it. I am also liking it.
I was also going to get Joseph Murphys' book on the IC - once a catholic and jesuit priest
I read many of his positive books and was surprised to find he was an avid student of the
IC. Some lines I look up on www. answercult and I do know if that is a respected source.
BTW excuse my ignorance but how is the IC connected to Taoist religion and are why are
we now calling it the Yi ? Thank you for your time and if I write with typos and bad syntax
at times it is because I am very tired or its late at night. Please bear with.
