Hi all,

A little background of myself:
Having lived and worked overseas for more than 10 years, I decided it's time for me to go back to my home country and seek better personal growth and also financial opportunities (in business). Unfortunately, I've been struggling over the past year and a half (maybe not that surprising given the 10 year disconnect) trying to find the progress that I'm looking for but to no avail. Being stuck causes me a great deal of stress and also the remorse of coming back to this country.

To cut the story short, a wealthy relative "S", who definitely has the resources and capacity to help but he seems unsympathetic to my situation (although I don't really want his sympathy). I never thought I would go this route but desperate times call for desperate measures and thus I'm thinking of asking him for his help. One day I visited him and we chatted a bit and he seemed more open but still very much reserved when I asked if it's possible for him to be my mentor. Giving no definite answer, I decided not to press for more than I should. After that event, I asked IC:

What do I need to understand about the outcome of today's meeting with "S"?
Hex 1.3.4.6 > 60. It sounds quite positive except the line 6, which I don't recall I went overboard at anytime during the meeting.

Remembering his slightly more open attitude, I asked
Is S ready to help me to obtain some progress?
Hex 58.2.6 > 25. Hex 58 is usually about communication? Is it suggesting I have another talk with S?

Building on the previous reading, I asked
What should I think about doing in order to allow S to help me?
Hex 19.1.2.6 > 23. Hex 19 seems to suggest that I approach him again (similar to hex 58?) but I couldn't make anything out of the individual lines.

Any insights or comments will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Vince

Hi,

The lines in Hex. 1 are not the most favourable (apart from line 2). Line 6 suggests things
will fall apart, so to speak, not necessarily that you went overboard. Perhaps S's attitude
was somewhat overbearing, unsympathetic ... S was open until you mentioned/hinted that
you'd appreciate some assistance. You sensed his reticence so I'd suggest you go with your
gut feeling and trust your instincts.

The second casting (Hex. 58) is certainly more favourable in that it suggests some progress in your
interactions with S. However, in view of the fact that you'd already enquired about S, I wouldn't
take the second response into consideration as it may be contradictory. It's not uncommon to
receive a contradictory response when one enquires once again, seeking a response to a question
which has been phrased differently but which basically conveys the same message. You could
possibly enquire about S's position in relation to you (in 2/3 days' time) ... Jesed's (former reader)
method of questioning, along the lines of:
What's the general analysis of the situation between X and myself ?
What's my position in relation to X ?
What's X's position in relation to me ?
What's the best thing for me to do ?

The lines in Hex 19 are auspicious, line 6 being promising indeed ... magnanimous nearing. IMO
the IC is reassuring you that your situation will improve considerably, without assistance from S.
At times the Sage does not address the question, but informs us of what we need to know at that
point in time. Therefore trust your own judgement when taking future decisions and do consult
the IC for confirmation that you're heading in the right direction.

Hex. 19
The situation described by this hexagram is characterized by the approach of something higher
or greater. This process cannot be rushed and the gestation must be allowed to run its full
course.
Nearing.
Spring. Growing. Harvesting. Trial.
Culminating, tending towards the eighth moon possesses a pitfall.
(I don't think this biz of the 8th moon applies to your situation).

19.1
Conjunction nearing. Trial, significant.
Comments: Purpose moving correctly indeed.

19.2
Conjunction nearing, significant.
Without not harvesting.
Comments: Not yet yielding to fate indeed.

19.6
Magnanimity nearing.
Significant.
Without fault.
Comments: To magnanimity nearing belongs significance.
Purpose located inside indeed.

Thank you very much Themis for your insights. Some of the events that have recently unfolded make a bit more sense now.

One more thing, where is the "Thank you" button anyway?

Hi!
You don't have a thank you button yet! I'm new here too and realized the "thank you" option did not appear until I had 10 posts or something! So just say thank you for now and start posting!!:p
