Finding work: 17:1,2,3,4 - 48

Hi everyone!

I've moved back to my home country after two years away and things are pretty crazy right now for me in terms of finding my feet/work/an apartment ek!

Before I moved back to Australia from the UK I contacted an old workmate about work where he is in Melbourne, and he was quite confident I would not have trouble taking up a position where he is. He is quite well regarded in the company, and having previously worked with him he is confident of my abilities and feels I would be an asset.

But since arriving in the country I have contacted him be email and by phone (I left a message but did not speak to him directly). I left the message a few days ago and have not heard back from him.

It has been disappointing, as my partner and I are not from Melbourne and have not really anywhere to stay down there to look for work. And my partner is cautious about getting an apartment of our own down there as we both do not have work as yet and our savings will quickly disappear. We must stay with family in Queensland or NSW, which has been fun and great to see everyone but not the easiest way to job search. Our time is taken up with other things more often than not despite our best efforts.

I asked the I ching: What should I be doing right now in regards to getting a job in Melbourne?

I take that to mean perhaps things in regards to the job search and sorting out our life should be approached more flexibly, but that perhaps I should change tactic an look for work elsewhere?

17 is one of the best hexagrams for finding work, especially if you respect the opinions of others and get the assistance of others in your quest. This is a hexagram of success. Using the four-line rule (where there are four moving lines, consult the two unmoving lines), one can say that you have survived setbacks and now it is time to celebrate and go out there and do what you have to do. Once you get what you want, 48, maintain your position and keep the peace. Don't get excited or be impulsive. Things look good for you. Strange to say, but I have been thinking about Melbourne as a potential place to move to, although I have never been to Australia. Astrologically, it is a good place for me. Someday, I am going to visit the city and see how it is.

Melbourne has always been my dream city, and it's exciting to be finally closer to living there. Melbourne is more European of the Australian cities (if that is possible), and is a cultural gem with street art, oodles of sport, festivals, cocktail bars down laneways ... in short it is a very cool city. I hope you do come one day
