I went through a breakup so I thought I'd ask the Iching if there is a potential mate in my future?

Potential mate in my future? Hex 26

When will I meet my future mate? Hex 36

How will I meet my future mate: Hex 1

26 - Now looking at the answers to me it's indicating that I need to become stronger before a relationship can come into my life. It' showing success in the future once my life gains balance and equilibrium.

36 - When it comes to timing, I don't know what I can say about this, but I'm getting a feeling of winter time or a time when its quite cold and dark.

1 - now can this indicate through someone who is male? it's giving off pure yang energy... so either when i am looking to start something new (business/creative endeavour) or through another male?

i would love some input from experiences iching users as i'm a complete newwwbie! :D

Hexagram 26 is the "Great Taming". It's about gathering up your energies and recharging your stocks- raising "big cattle" and "not eating at home" so that you can recreate a stable situation for yourself. So I think your interpretation makes sense, especially if this breakup has thrown you off balance.

Hexagram 36- the Yi doesn't usually, in my experience, provide very strict statements about time- its not a crystal ball, the world is always in flux and your actions change it all the time; the Yi is telling you about the potentials and about the changes. A time of winter makes sense for Ming I, a time when you need to protect and conserve yourself, and "keep the flame burning". This doesn't necessarily mean it will be a long time, but it doesn't necessarily mean you'll find somebody right away- it's just a statement that you should concentrate on remaining stable in a time of adversity.

26 and 36 together suggest the wintertime you're talking about- start storing up your grains for the winter, when you'll need your inner strength. This is a call for perseverance and stability.

Hexagram 1, the Creative- This is a statement that, however you meet your next mate, its up to you to create those conditions and cultivate yourself and your situation for this meeting. The creative force and energy are with you, and its up to you to direct it and apply it. No specific recommendations here that I can think of, but just a statement about your potential.

RE male and female- I think that it's a cultural construction to think that only a male person can creative and only a female person can be receptive, and the various "wives" and "husbands" we see in the Yi are often metaphors to represent different states of being or attitudes towards life. We call Yang "male" and Yin "female", but those are just symbols to represent what they are to us. I think it has it backwards to assume that "creative force" could only be a masculine force, when in fact masculinity is an idea our culture has accumulated to make some humans "creative" and others "receptive". Yang and Yin (active/passive, giving/receiving, seed/soil) existed before humans conceived that some of them were "men" and others were "women"... Anyway, that's neither here nor there.

Thank you ... your very eloquent :) nicely put...

I was trying to gauge how i would meet this future partner? (I was thinking would it be through someone or through my business)

In winter I am starting my own creative business (healing) and also meeting a male person (this is dependant on me making the initiative to go and meet him) who is an expert on finances to set up something that i am looking into who is based in another city...

Well, the circumstances you mention are interesting, and I wouldn't leave them from consideration. Sometimes the Yi is very very concrete in how it tells you things. Maybe you should interview the Yi further about this business situation to find out what potentials are there. I would also say (and this is strictly my opinion, so take it with a wheelbarrow of salt) that if I were in your shoes I would concentrate more on "raising the cattle" so that I could more effectively draw on my creative force- build up your strength and don't worry too much about finding partnerships at the moment.
