Hi All,

I'm currently stripping away a lot of clutter in my life, both mentally and materially. I have *a lot* of occult / spiritual books I think I no longer want. Basically I inwardly feel a mess and am trying to follow the I-Ching's advice in certain areas in the hope of getting better (how much worse could it lead me to?), and one of the areas is with my books.

My question was: "What about giving he books I don't want away?"

It's answer: 26, "Great Accumulating" with no moving lines.

I would love a view point on this answer. Personally I think getting rid of the distractions could be a good idea: empty the cup etc...

Any and all help is most welcome.

I did the same, but I held onto the books (after boxing) to make sure they no longer had relevance for me. qataluna

The only ones I think I'd like to save are some very old books and a few reference materials. Everything else seems like filler.

26, "Great Accumulating" - Keep the focus on what you are trying to achieve by getting rid of all your clutter and baggage. It is the right time for you do do this.

Love and hugs

This hex suggests that you keep hold of them at least for the present time.

Willowfox is EXACTLY right.

I don't know how people could possibly interpret Hex 26, which is all about restraint and accumulation, as an indicator that you should give stuff away.

In other words, it isn't the books that is the problem. The mental clutter, maybe. But not the books.

Hex 26 is also about controlling resources, so if you have made up your mind to get rid of them then go with that decision, I was wrong the first time.

Thanks for all your help. I've sorted out those I'll keep and those I'll give away. They're currently getting in my way, like a giant obstacle to what I want to pursue. I'm sure this'll help with the mental clutter.

Again, thanks.

I find if I pile up everything I intend to give away and leave it in a pile for a day or two, my hand will automatically snatch back what i want to keep with no guidance from me - its true in holding on to or letting go the hands know best ;)

I would be very careful with this....many people regret tossing books.

i am NOt a clutterbug and I dont accumulate much STUFF, but the few times i have given away books, i have regretted it. they are like friends. one day you go to reach for the hand of an old friend and find that he/she is gone. mais well, there is always the internet. but I like my book shelves, and i only accumulate books which mean something to me anyway

On the other hand, I am always in favor of 50.1 moments in life and feel there is a time and place for this to happen...however, 26 .0 is not one of those times IMO

Good point. I've collected a few hundred books relating to the Golden Dawn and Qabalah. I haven't touched them for a couple of years and have no interest in those subjects any longer. I've checked for the 'fruit' after a decade or so and I'm not happy with it for myself.

But sometimes I get the urge to read the books thinking maybe it'll be different this time around. Yet I doubt it will.

I'm keeping a few essential reference books and at least one book on each subject: like a representative book for that area.

What's that phrase? Beat your friend at golf: buy him a couple of golf books ;-)
