Six in the fourth place means:
He dissolves his bond with his group.
Supreme good fortune.
Dispersion leads in turn to accumulation.
This is something that ordinary men do not think of.

When we are working at a task that affects the general welfare, we must leave
all private friendships out of account. Only by rising above party interests can
we achieve something decisive. He who has the courage thus to forego what
is near wins what is afar
. But in order to comprehend this standpoint, one
must have a wide view of the interrelationships of life, such as only unusual
men attain.

----------------------

I applied for a position and they called me. They said they might shortlist me. But I am not sure, so I enquired with the I Ching.
The position is one that does affect the general welfare.
I have no private friendships there. Maybe they say I shouldnt use references to support myself?
"thus to forego what is near wins what is afar"
This cryptic statment I don't understand :(
"wide view of the interrelationships of life, such as only unusual
men attain."
Yes, I think I need to know alot of things to meet the demands of the job.

I am scared. More because I read the resulting hexagram 6. It doesnt seem like a good one.
What do you think?

Line 59.4 suggests that you may well be shortlisted, as you are ready to leave your job, that which is near to go to another job, that which is far.

Thanks Willowfox, I was shortlisted. But that is only the first hurdle.

I asked 2 more questions.
Am I cut out for the job?
29.1>60
Will I get the job?
26.6>11

The line 26.6 seems very favorable. But 29.1 shows I am not cut out for the job? It is confusing :(

Thank you for your advice.
(p.s: does anyone know how I can delete my other 2 threads?)

Will I get the job?, 26.6>11

This is a very positive answer.

Whether the job will actually be to your liking is another matter. Do you understand exactly what it entails?

Hi Willowfox,

I still cannot find the delete button. :-?

I do not understand exactly what it entails, though I do have a rough idea..

I went for the extremely difficult psychometric test today (which surprised me, because I thought it'd be only an hour max.) but it consisted of about 3 hours plus. Needless to say, I never expected the questions at all, and tried my best to answer some I hardly know anything about.

I asked the I ching. How did I do for the test today? It gave me a hexagram 4. Which can mean it wasn't good? Or did I ask the oracle too many times.

And then I wanted to know if I would be called up for a 2nd interview, and it gave me 34, no changing lines. Would it be a yes or a no?

I don't think my test today was done excellently. There were about 7 candidates and I suppose they may get an edge, or other.

What do you suggest the hexagrams mean?

Thank you muchly.

It suggests don't worry about it, and yes you made mistakes but so did the others, so just keep going.

And then I wanted to know if I would be called up for a 2nd interview, and it gave me 34

it indicates that you will.

Thanks Willowfox! I really hope I will. Yes, I did make many mistakes there, just hope I'll be a viable candidate.
