Graphic Yi images

In a discussion with answeredquestions http://www.onlineclarity.co.uk/friends/showthread.php?p=109204#post109204 , we thought it might be okay to start a graphic thread, images inspired by the Yijing, composed of combination of media and sources.

I have 64 images already constructed from another time, with brief sayings, which I'll probably change and ad-lib a bit with here. AQ is starting nearly from scratch, so I hope she doesn't feel pressured here to produce. Something tells me she can be very prolific when she's inspired.

I've found some early sayings for the images, and I'll begin with those, with hexagrams 1, 2 and 3. (hopefully, barring glitches)

Of course it's for anyone to post graphic/poetic expression, but with the preference that as much of the composition as is possible be original, by your hand or someone you worked with for the purpose of expressing a hexagram, rather than seeing a picture that reminds you of a hexagram. Sometimes those lines cross, naturally. :)

I uploaded these to Photobucket to host, linking them here.

So let me start..

In the beginning was the Urge. It knew not light from dark, forward from back, good from evil. Endless possibilities; the Urge finds a way.

Before the beginning, was space for creation. Devoted and strong, open yet firm: heaven's mate receives his seed, and bears within and upon herself all things manifest.

Our life is one big creative mistake. Too many mistakes to count, but somehow, in some miraculous way, something beautiful emerges from it.

I'm going to start with Hexagram 2 for now and then post the other two images I did in the other thread.

Curious and impetuous, not knowing. Surely a teacher will come.
It is not the teacher who seeks me. I seek the teacher.

Always present, seldom seen, vigilant to protect from thieves.

With assurance from AQ, that's she's comfortable with going at ones own pace, and her encouragement to continue, I'll go ahead and post more images.

it does my heart good!

OMG, I'm so happy to see these. I really missed the succinct, pithy hexes, and the lovely pictures. Thanks, thanks, thanks. More than I can say!:rofl:

When actions speak few words are needed.

(I can't even give a logical explanation of why this image says 15 to me. Maybe it's the way individuals blend in an open space.)

It is well to follow.

Stinkin' thinkin' needs a breath of fresh air.
Make it a double!

Ultimately, to set things right, you have to rise above what mommy and daddy think of you and what you do or don’t do, rise above what your boss, your political party, your pastor, your friends or peers, or your enemies think. There’s something higher which calls you out from the muck.

Perspective depends upon your vantage. Are you afraid of heights?
Step in and out of yourself, and take another look.

This is something I did about 10 years ago when I lived in Georgia. I used to call it Following because of the bottom left corner. I saw someone helping someone else out of, what I thought looked like quicksand. It has been stashed in my computer files forever. I think it fits well with Hexagram 17 - Following and so I am officially submitting it as that :)
