I have a property to view tomorrow night, Tuesday, as a potential rental home [for which I am desperate] that has been described as "idyllic." This time I want something for the long term -- not just a quick fix.

At the same time, on Thursday, I have a final interview for a job opportunity -- an extraordinary one -- that would take me out of the country altogether, leaving no housing problem to consider.

The timing of these is a bit backwards perhaps, since I can't answer on the house until potential for the job is known, and thinking maybe I could eliminate this house, if it's not a good idea, I've asked the Yi "Is this house the house for me?" Reply: Hex 18.6 changing to Hex 46. Which says I should not be doing business with king and lords but paying attention to what feeds my inner being? And that could be interpreted a lot of ways, including that the house in an out of the way locale might feed the spirit -- or that the job of all time might do that. Confusion continues. And, by the way, for Willow Fox, this house is right there on the flowing water, a stream, as foretold. However, the flat I'd have if I take this job is overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, so no help there either in differentiating what to keep and what to eliminate.

From the beginning of your house issue, my impression from your readings is that Yi doesn’t talks about certain building but more generally about your decisions and plans which somehow are conflicting. What if you have a positive answer for the house owners and from the job interviews? As you said you can’t have both, so , my impression, is that Yi talks about setting priorities. Keep living in that place or change your work ?

Some times 18.6 comes to me when I’m confused about what needs to be done and this confusion is because I hear many voices but not my own. That line helps me, to calm down and make a simple question to myself. “What do I want ?”.

I don't get it. I tried to take a quote from your message and ended up editing it. How is that possible? Anyway, sorry for whatever caused that Maremaria.

Here's what I wanted to say in response to your comment: Yes, this is exactly where I'm trying to get and I don't know how to get there without information that satisfies my questions about -- how will it affect me in the long term? I suppose the house is symbolic in some ways of the "stay or go" decision. There seems to be nothing definitive that influences me to feel: YES DEFINITELY. One thing for certain I can't stay here without housing, so that would be a deciding factor of sorts, but only by default. In one way it would make a decision FOR me. I know you are saying, how cowardly. But not having a solid opinion of even the right questions to ask, I'm looking for a sign -- any sign. You are right Maremaria; it's not all about a house or a job. It's about the right thing to do when nothning seems clear and I feel worried that I could make a very wrong decision and find myself stuck. The only thing I have that is tangible that represents any of that right now is the opportunity to decide about the house. On Thursday I'll know lots more about the job. An I suppose I'm thinking maybe -- by a process of elimination I'll know what to do with this part of my life? It's a huge gamble and I can't afford any dumb decisions.

Yes, I just realised this is the problem. I'm supposing that this was turned on when I was asked to moderate and didn't get turned off. I will alert Hilary to this, since I'm sure she didn't know -- I didn't know either. Thankx.

New Direction

Willow Fox, it's to the south, almost due south of where I live right now, about ten miles down the road. It's a very old stone built house that was the smithy of a small village and there are a number of other places immediately around it. A small river runs behind the village and it's generally a very attractive place, just a bit further out than I'm used to but within 3.5 miles of a town.

Hello there, Gato. Can you tell me where you derive this interpretation? From the 18.6?

The judgement of Hex 46 says, "Departure towards the south brings good fortune".

Departure to the South

yes, 18.6 and as wf noticed departure toward south brings good fortune.

In that case Gato, your idea of departure to the South has some other purpose, something better than this place? Interestingly, departure to the South is exactly what I'd have to do to take this job. Sorry to keep bringing that in, but as Maremaria says, you're not always getting the answer to the question you asked, so I'd love to find some way I can definitely decide the answer I'm getting is on this house alone -- and positive. Is it possible to do with this question alone, or do I need some qualifying question?

You get the context from the second hex which most of the times is the key for reading the first. pursuing higher goals and "pushing upward" - further moving. what that means only you can tell.

Higher Goals

This is not my highest goal at the moment. What I've applied for in terms of employment is the higher goal -- VERY high. So high in fact I don't know for certain that I can do it, but something I've always thought would be amazing to aim for. The hesitation that I have, well there are a few considerations actually. One is being in an extremely foreign place on my own, leaving my family behind once more. Second is the amount of stamina required to work a longer week, starting earlier in the day, ending later. Last is the standard of ethics and dedication to the project. Not that I'm unethical, but this is something beyond the every day for sure. Having said all of that, it's a type of work far superior to what I'm doing here that would demand all of the skills I've acquired so far in a lifetime, and more. There are also fascinating people with whom to associate and the possibility of having a social life again. I'll know on Thursday evening what their offer will be and when I'd be needed -- and I'll have ample opportunity to ask questions. Then I'll have to decide in some reasonable period of time to make such a vast decision.

Knowing I've got a place here if I want one will mean I can opt not to go abroad, keep the relatively rote job I have, probably continue to have no social life, but benefit from being here in the family circle in a fairly comfy situation. I suppose it's adventure and challenge versus what is known and comfortable, not so demanding. And I can't make up my mind so keep asking the Yi to shed some light on the proper choice. As Maremaria says, if I can have a great house here AND a great job in a land far away, it's still going to come down to: What do I want? And I just don't know.

to me is "wait, something better will come up"

Thanks Gato for explaining your interpretation further. Let me be sure how you derived this one. First, the Hex 18.6 would imply that you are "doing business" with a lesser force or echelon of operation than is ultimately available? And Hex 46, that there is something in the offing that is preferable? Do I have that right, or can you explain your view beyond what you've said?

Nonsense. Of course you know Arabella: adventure and challenge every time. :D

Topal

Some days I am completely gung-ho and others i feel that i've got a nerve at this point taking on the largest challenge I've ever faced. If I am wrong, I will be SO wrong there's quite literally no going back for several years. I'm usually so decisive, jump in with both feet and think later on. I've never deliberated as I am now, but that's partly because resources are low, I'm older and supposed to be "wiser" and I have no real sense of how it will feel when I get there. In short, it could be the most amazing or disastrous thing I'd ever done, and there's no way to be clear which one from here. Gulp.

mmmm .... no. 18.6 imply that you shouldn't be happy with small things, you should look/search for a better option.

18.6 means bypassing the whole decision...so it seems to mean, its not the house for you because there is another destination for you entirely

Saw the house a few hours ago and it's definitely not the thing for me. Beautiful locale and house that has possibilities if you were buying and could renovate -- well that says it all. It would be cold and difficult to maintain -- it was even cold in July. The two diehards that lived there last Winter attest to having suffered through it.

If there is a place here for me it hasn't appeared on the radar screen at all. But, as said, evidently Hex 18.6 means this is one to pass up because something better is coming -- and it better be!:)

Don't let my impression of your reading confuse you, if it doesn't fit to your gut feelings :)
Its your reading, and youknow things about the whole situation better than i do.

Suggestion: The BEST question to me is the "help !!!" one, in such situations
